We actually only have 12 picks u dont count comps and we will trade a few away to move so we prolly will only use like 8 or 9
that being said as mentioned before we would like to package some picks to move up in some rds. would be willing to move the 6's and 7's and or maybe some 5s for a 4th _________________

SF's 6th and 7th came via eating contracts in trade. i guess i could send them back if everyone is against me having the two picks. Hard cause not many trades available and people dont seem to wanna move picks pre draft.
or we could take a 1 mill a pick , 2 mill total penalty. we have 19.5 cap left so we could do it. was gonna use left over space to resign some players ala Tuck, Kiwi, CRuz and maybe Osi, and Webster. _________________

Eli trade 4 draft picks
Lb Ahmad Brooks
TE Delaney Walker
RB Kendall Hunter
The Eli Trade: The Giants have decided to trade away their two-time winning Super Bowl QB Eli Manning, words-can't-express-how-much surprisingly, to kick off its offseason in 2012. In one of the biggest moves during this offseason, it acquired LB Ahmad Brooks, TE Delaney Walker, RB Kendall Hunter, a 3rd, a 6th, and a 7th round draft choices in this years NFL Draft from the San Francisco 49ers. Anytime your franchise quarterback is traded away, the minimum compensation a team who is giving up the quarterback should expect back is a litany of picks in the first or second rounds. That said, looking at the players the Giants have received in return, the headliner for the Giants has got to be LB Ahmad Brooks, who has flourished as an OLB in the 49ers aggressive 3-4 defensive scheme. However, this trade to the Giants suggests a move away from a role he has flourished in and back to a middle linebacker/pass-rushing outside linebacker role which he has played with marginal effectiveness as a Cincinnati Bengal in the 4-3. The question as to whether he can have the same impact in the Giants defense under Perry Fewell as he did in the 49ers defense must be a point of concern. In the least, Brooks' acquisition back to a 4-3 defensive scheme (albeit an aggressive one as the Giants'), along with his limited productivity in such a role, as well as his history of off-the-field problems suggests a change-of-scenery was not in the best interest of the player. The Giants also acquired TE Delaney Walker and RB Kendall Hunter. While both served as backups in San Francisco to NFL elites Vernon Davis and Frank Gore, respectively, both players are widely lauded in league for being both highly productive as can be in their roles and having plenty of potential and upside in their respective positions. The Giants clearly have bet on this potential and perhaps have looked at Walker and Hunter as the key pieces in this deal. That said, a package of Brooks, Walker, Hunter, and 3 non-first/second round draft choices for Eli Manning is clearly a risky proposition of the highest order. There is significant ground to be made up later on in the offseason for the Giants with this trade. (D+)
32 traded for
Matt Flynn
Trade for Matt Flynn: The Giants' reaction to shore up its starting quarterback position (after all, it can't be starting no David Carr can it? haha) was to their credit, swift and decisive. Trading away its first round pick in this years draft, they have acquired QB Matt Flynn from the Green Bay Packers. This is a great trade for both teams as the Packers acquire a 1st round pick for a player in a position they already have on lockdown with QB Aaron Rodgers and the Giants acquire a capable quarterback as Flynn as shown to be in spot-starts as a backup quarterback highlighted by his astonishing 6TD Week 17 performance against the Detroit Lions (in other words, this ain't no Jim Sorgi or Curtis Painter) who clearly deserved a starting opportunity elsewhere. Flynn comes into a great situation in the New York "Football" Giants where he may lead an elite team capably rather than trying to be a difference maker on a struggling team. This writer compares Flynn, potentially, to having the same kind of impact on the Giants that Matt Hasselbeck has had on the Seattle Seahawks coming from Green Bay (I just couldn't resist the comparison, however accurate or inaccurate it is). (B)
Manningham traded for
pick 70
I was never impressed with Manningham, yea he came up huge in last seasons' playoffs but his play before last season never warranted high consideration. He has dropped balls, missed routes, and propensity to get injured consistently enough that I believe last season was more of an outlier than the norm. Clearly, he is not a #1 WR nor a #2 WR on a team with any kind of playoff aspirations. In my book, a great move acquiring a pick in the top 70 for a decent slot receiver. (B+)
Giants resigns
CB Terrel Thomas 2.5
CB A Ross 1.9
WR D Hixon 693k
DE D Tolleson 500k
QB D Carr 500k
CB Justin Tryon 500k
C/G D Baas 500k
T D Diehl 1 mill
P S Weatherford 500k
LB C Blackburn 500k
T Stacy Andrews 500k
TE CHristian Hopkins 500k (practice squad) dont expect u to know him
Don't ask me to grade your resignings. I'm just gonna assume its business that had to be done. (Not graded)
FA Signings
DT/DE Jason Jones 2M: An under the radar acquisition who the Giants have gotten at high-value. Fits the Giants' scheme of rotating DEs into DTs and vice versa. Another pass-rushing addition for the #1 defensive line in the NFL. (B)
TE Scott Chandler 500k: Began the year in 2011 with Buffalo in high flying fashion, totaling 4TDs in his first three games with the Bills. However, as with the Bills' hot start, tailed off both in production and relevancy as the year went on. However, signed as a backup and only entering his 4th year in the league grades as a decent pickup for the Giants. (C)
WR Jerome Simpson 500k (15 days in jail): Now that they've legitimized themselves as an elite team in the NFL, the Giants are seemingly entering into the Bill Belichick, "I'm the best so I can do whatever I want since I win no matter what, pickup characters with questionable personalities, and don't give a bleep what you think" mode. A player with incredible athleticism (esp that flip) whose statistical production has increased with increased playing time, Simpson was perhaps signed by the Giants as a potential fix to the conundrum that the Giants are currently having in their slot receiver position behind Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. However, as suggested this move would most likely mount to nothing more than a mere "fix" as Simpson will show flashes here and there but legitimate off-the-field concerns were enough to scare off other teams and warrants the minimum salary for which he has signed for with the Giants. (D+)
C/G Geoff Hangartner 500k: I've heard of him, I think? (Not graded)
C Dan Koppen 500k: A veteran C who has long-served the New England Patriots, decided to cross the Boston/New York divide for the veterans minimum. Showed incredible signs of declining skills and age last year in games I have seen him play. Serviceable through this year, anything beyond that is highly questionable. (C)
S Jordan Babineaux 500k: High production for non-playoff teams never a good tool for evaluating a player but at the minimum, a value pickup as a backup safety. (C+)
T Anthony Collins 3M: Emerged from a bidding war between multiple teams for Collins' services. Solid OT, paving the way for Cedric Benson's third consecutive 1000-yard rushing season. Great run blocker who will presumably replace retired T Kareem McKenzie in the Giants O-Line. (B+)
C/G/T Krag Urbik 3.75M: This writer loves versatile offensive linemen who can play all three positions. Urbik was an up-and-comer who has flourished given playing time with the Buffalo Bills. Currently grades at little-more-than-average both in the run and in the pass but has the potential for much more given consistent playing time. (B)
K Connor Barth 1M: A little too much for a kicker maybe, but I have Kaeding and Janikowski on my rosters making much more than that so I guess I shouldn't comment. (Not graded)
GPA Thus Far: 2.45, C+/B-: Admittedly not a bunch of "sexy~" moves made by the Giants this offseason, solid pickups here and there offset by the dumbfounding Eli trade and horrendous pickup of Jerome Simpson. Giants have some ground to make up in the upcoming NFL draft to round out its roster. |
