Great article, very funny.

Mock drafts are pick-by-pick guesses of which team will select which player in April’s draft. They are composed by columnists, experts, obsessed amateurs, compulsive listmakers, interns and precocious toddlers, and all are of exactly the same level of accuracy. Some mock drafts prognosticate only the first round, but many now extend through all seven rounds, which is a little like trying to predict the weather on April 7, 2019. |

Ive always found 7 round mocks rather funny myself. Its not uncommon however to pick the 1st round at around 80% accuracy, though. I myself often do better, and consider myself to fall into the 'expert' category, where as the rest of this forum is made up of 'compulsive listmakers' and surely some 'precocious toddlers' |

I think I most closely fit into the "precocious toddlers" category. Except that I'm not that precocious at all. _________________

I predicted the Lions would draft Willie Young a couple of years ago.
Wadup
I also predicted we would draft Levy, the only difference I had us picking him in the 7th round rather than the 3rd _________________

This was my offseason before FA in 2010. Real dumb moves, some good ones... Julian Peterson? Bullocks/Simpson? Morris/Smith at RB???
Some decent ones though too. Major Wright, Suh, Beadles where solid pics. Griffen/Ghee/Weston could of been better picks lol. Smiley was traded for a 4th rdp exchange. Not my best work... not worst either though. lol. |

I have never mocked, I just enjoy reading everyones guesses. As I only really watch Big - Ten football I love hearing about all these prospect from couch scouts. I tend to put a lot of weight in what you all say... I wonder if I should stop doing that. _________________ Lions are completely inept. |

January 30, 2010:
| Quote: | In an attempt just to do something different, I decided to try a different mock, against what I believe, but who knows, it could happen. Same ol' same ol' gets a little drab around here.
1.Joe Haden CB-Florida
Haden nails the combine and impresses in personal workouts. Proves he is the #1 DB in the class and sees his stock rocket. Schwartz falls in love and the rest is history. Instant secondary, just add Haden.
2.Jared Odrick DT-Penn State
Already over 300 pounds, and with the frame to easily add weight, Odrick gives us a DT strong enough to hold up at the POA for those who want a space eater, but also brings great feet and quickness for passing downs with an ability to collapse the pocket. Could be wishful thinking he falls this far, but what the hay, it is a mock.
3.Dexter McCluster WR/HB/Whatever-Mississippi
Drops due to size concerns, and actually kind of early here IMO, but Mayhew and staff decide he is #1 on their BB and a playmaker is always welcome. While defenses key in on CJ, lil' Dex is taking it to the house.
4.Jon Asamoah OG-Illinois
Drops due to stumpy arms. May never amount to anything, but we take a chance on a 2-3rd talent with short arms in the 4rd.
5.Blair White WR-Michigan State
I am the first one to point out I despise homers, and homer picks. What can I say, I like the kid.
5.Chris Cook DB-Virginia
An excellent athlete with excellent size. Could surprise, could flop horribly. Worth a shot in the 5rd.
6.Jeffrey Fitzgerald DE-Kansas State
Good size/speed combination. Add some depth to Dline hopefully
7.Josh Hull LB-Penn State
ST Depth, and you never know what you might get from the LB position at Penn State.
There you go all, trash it at will. Just really wanted a taste of something different. |

Why did u take Chris Cook in the 5th when he was a 2nd round prospect or was he not when the season ended and his stock rose at the combine? _________________ Ziggy Ansah on quarterbacks

I wanted McCluster too. Would of been much better value than what we gave up for Best Mayhew needs to at least skim through here from time to time.... |

His stock rose in the offsseaason. He was still considered a 3-4rd guy @ the draft. He was a "reach" at the time. _________________

did you see Cook play before he got into trouble - should have been a 5th rounder. Nice group of players in this mock. |

Haha. I wanted BJ Raji over Stafford, and made several mocks stating as much. I was looking good until last season. Check out the run-down.
| Quote: | 1- Raji
20- Percy Harvin
33- James Laurinaitis
65- Herman Johnson
82- Andy Levitre
The drafting of 2 solid OG's would allow Loper to back-up our tackles and give us solid depth on the O-Line. I'd like another DT, so maybe we could use our 2 6th round picks to trade up to the 4th and grab one there. |

I can dig it. I liked Raji quite a bit also. Wasn't a fan of Harvin at draft time though. _________________

Ya, where is he now?
I guess he starts for KC, but I can't imagine he is very good since I have heard nothing of him at all _________________
