What would you guys pay for a guy like Michael Ryder?
If the Stars can get a top prospect and a pick for him, then I'd pull the trigger. He has been good this year, and I think his value on the market is higher than it should be.
It would help us out a bit financially for the ensuing offseason too. I hope we can get some big time free agents. I'm not sure if we can actually land a few of them though. It'd be cool to pry Duchene away from the Avs, but he's not worth losing 4 first round picks.
Benn-Duchene-Eriksson on the PP would be pretty freaking legit though. Wow. _________________

Nobody's going to want to be on the hook for 3.5 mil for Michael Ryder next year.
Unless the Stars take salary back I doubt any team would be interested. Too much of an enigma. _________________

Meh, I'm not sure about that. 30 goals, 60 points, a right handed shot, and good defensive play makes $3.5 million sound appropriate.
If nobody wants him for that much, then Stars will gladly keep him.
If we stick with Morrow, Ribs, and Ryder for next season, we'll have a TON of money coming off of the books for the 2013 offseason. _________________

Hamrlik may be moved, but I'm not sure of any other players. Haven't heard their name come up a lot in trade rumors. |
I'd have to imagine Knuble is on the move. He's been a healthy scratch for a majority of the games since the beginning of the month. _________________ RIP SuperSkinFan

Washington won't get much for him though. _________________

I've heard the Bruins could be in on Ryder. I'll pass. I think we could use the $3.5M better. At a lower hit though, I'd gladly take his elevated play in the spring and the lift it'd give our locker room.
Two more Caps who could be moved today: Mike Knuble and Alex Semin, Semin being the less likely of the two to move. _________________

Ryder going back to Boston would be perfect, but I'm not sure what the Stars could get in return that we would like. _________________

Also Knuble, he's rarely been used right since Hunter took over. A contender will like his experience and his game is perfectly suited for the playoffs. Also , Backstrom put on IR so the Caps should be really in for a C , no way they can compete with Marcus Johansson and Mathieu Perreault as their top centremen. _________________

The two Montreal-Nashville trades boil down to this:
Montreal gets: Blake Geoffrion, Robert Slaney, Nashville 2nd round picks in 2012 and 2013
Nashville gets: Hal Gill and Andrei Kostitsyn
I say Montreal's the winner here. You have to think Gauthier dealt them thinking he wouldn't re-sign either of them. Extra draft capital and a good forward prospect is a coup. _________________
