Okay. |
To be fair, this doesnt really say anything for sure.
Also, I am of the opinion that Florida doesnt deserve 3 football teams. They arent an overly large state and a lot of their residents are removed from elsewhere in the country. |
Jacksonville is the biggest city in the U.S.
If you wanna get rid of a Florida team, then go with Tampa.

No sweetie, New York is. Unless you're going by size, in which case Anchorage is still > Jax _________________

So are Sitka, Juneau, and some other Alaskan city I'm forgetting.
But size doesn't matter. _________________

hm.
I read that Jacksonville was the biggest by area, but not population.
Maybe it was just contiguous U.S.
Well that still counts, okay! |

Goodell is simply being diplomatic. He is saying the right thing. If anyone is looking at what he is said as an indication that their team is suddenly safer than before he made the statement they are dangerously naive. _________________

Yep. Goodell knows what he is doing. Teams like Jax aren't safe. _________________ AAL: DeAndre Levy 31 Tackles

This is what he's supposed to say. Can you imagine the alienation from the fans of those cities if the NFL commish said they where going to move the team? _________________ Hey there, Blimpy Boy, flying through the sky so fancy.. free.. |

Never going to happen. The area is perfect for hosting the Super Bowl. _________________

I'm not entirely sure why, but that is my favorite quote of the month.
But yes, anyone taking comfort in this statement is being naive. Teams are going to move and no, the commissioner is not going to induce completely unnecessary panic among multiple fan-bases. So of course he's going to say the NFL is committed to keeping teams where they are. They were equally committed to keeping the Colts in Baltimore, the Oilers in Houston and the original Browns in Cleveland.
All those teams had much deeper roots and more rabid fan support than Jacksonville (sorry, Jags fans). They each moved. That's not to say you are definitely moving. But guaranteeing things you have no control over rarely ends up making you look good. _________________

The NFL is the owners.
If they really want to stop someone moving they will. |
And if they really want a team (and Super Bowl site) in Los Angeles, they will make that happen.
I don't care if the Rams/Vikings/Jaguars/whoever moves to Los Angeles but I'd have to think the NFL will want a team there sooner rather than later if a stadium gets built. |
The NFL could always expand.
That might take a few years though. We'd likely have to add 2 teams instead of just 1. _________________
