Since when is it wise to try to build a contender in one offseason? I just don't get it.

There will be more seasons after 2012, I promise.

The odds of there being a Yankee-type of FA haul is ridiculous. Have we learned nothing from Daniel Snyder? Just because you have extra funds doesn't mean you have to blow it all at once.

I don't see the Jags pursuing multiple free agents, but maybe one or two hard. The Jags aren't going to bring in 5 starters and a nickle CB like they did last season.

I think Gene targets 4 or 5 starters with the expectation of maybe signing two. Example: Mario, Avril, Colston, Stevie, Wayne; Say, he lands Avril and Wayne. I'd say two starters is best case scenario. I'd like to see him pursue Carr, but I don't see it happening.

I meant I don't see the Jags bringing in as many new starters through free agency.

He said 2 new starters, that isnt farfetched

I was correcting my mistake.

No worries, I misread comments all the time and have to go back.

I think because he won't be alone with who he targets, he will need to target more than he wants. Even if he's able to get an end and receiver before all his targets are gone, I still think he'll be done at that point unless there is a guy he just can't pass on.

Ther is still definitely the chance he doesn't even get two, but I think its a lock that he gets one of the marquee guys - its not every year this many quality players are set to hit the market.

Give me Vincent Jackson & draft Perry, Coples, or Ingram with are First
Give me.Mario Williams, & Draft Blackmon or Floyd
Give me Carr & Draft DE or WR
would be happy with all those.
If we signed Vincent & Drafted Blackmon. We go from weak WR to top 5 1-2 Combos in the NFL & were contenders

Top-5 1-2 combo is a bit of a reach, by just looking at guys from last year, all of these guys were on that level or better:

Nicks-Cruz
Jennings-Nelson
Wallace-Brown
Roddy-Julio
D-Jack-Maclin
Dez-Miles

Those 6 would be clearly better. I think a rookie WR will take longer to get into a groove with a young QB like Gabbert to be considered Top-5 immediately

Apparently Wallace won't be tagged. I hope the Jags go after him. They could give him a frontloaded contract if they rolled over a lot of cap room.

I think that means he wont be franchised, but they would be dumb not to tender him as an RFA

Yea, they aren't going to place the franchise tag on him, but will place a tender. Now that I think about it, it is kind of smart by them. They can clear the cap room to resign him if needed, but can see how high of a first round pick they can get for him. I definitely think the Jags should give him around a $10m contract per year that is mainly frontloaded. He is better than anyone the Jags are likely to get at 7 anyway.

Yea, that is an interesting one. #7 seems really high, but Wallace is a beast

I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be worth it though, unless Luck falls.

Wouldnt say.D Jack & Maclin are top 5, the others i could see.but you.cant say it wouldnt make the jags recieving core very good, none of those combos u listed has a RB like we do, but Mccoy but i dont consider D Jack & Maclin a top 5 combo.&.chances are D Jack wont be in Philly next yr, Well Turner but he isnt as good as MJD, are offense would.be highly upgraded.
We wont Go.after Wallace thats a 100 % fact

If they had better numbers, it wouldnt be bc Blackmon & V-Jack , it would be bc Gabbert didnt throw the ball well.

With a training camp it certain will help, plus getting better targets and maybe improving the OL. His pocket presence and mechanics will improve which will improve his accuracy
