and as far as all that 50 yards with a flick of a wrist mumbo jumbo you posted earlier, so what, J. Russell could do that too, along with other countless busts broken down along the side of the highway of the history of the NFL. Colt still has TONS of potential (I just hope last year didn't completely destroy it due to the inept coaching and lack of talent around him). This guy is the winningest QB in college football history, we need to give him a fair chance.
This guy measures up physically and mentally great side by side with the best WCO QB that ever lived (Joe Montana), WE NEED TO GIVE HIM A FAIR CHANCE!!!!
I don't see why people don't get that. |
Colt has no potential to be great, he MAY one day crack in top 20 Qb in league but thats it. And so now your going to talk about his college success? How bout Colt Brennan, he won many games, broke records, still has them, Kellen Moore, David Greene, all won that many games,
ALL the people who were judging me for saying RG3 was heisman now want to use Colts college credentials against me?? Bunch of hypocrits. |

His ceiling is limited because of his size and lack of arm strength. His accuracy was not very good last year. We've given him a LOT better opportunity than most QBs. On most teams he would have been benched or cut. We named him the unanimous starter with no threat of losing his job to anyone. Shurmur gave him the job and opportunity to earn it. He did not earn the right to start next year. That is the problem with society now and days. Give away stuff to people who don't earn it.

Are you serious....I remember when you first began your campaign for RG3...all you could say was RG3>>>>Colt without any reason added....
You also keep going into other topics about other QBs and you constantly try so hard to shove RG3's stats for the 2011 season down everyone's throats...it's almost like you don't want any of us talking about any other QB except for RG3 because he is the first QB ever to be so talented and be projected to become the next superstar right? |

I understand that not everyone who thinks we should draft RG3 seems to hate McCoy but some folks certainly seem to be in that category. It is why I did not simply say everyone who wants to draft RG3 is Colt hater.
I agree that we should always be looking/willing to upgrade any position and I am not against the idea of drafting RG3 so long as we do not have to move up to do so and our FO/Coaching staff works with him in an intelligent fashion that gives him every opportunity to succeed.
If that means changing your offensive philosophy in order to best untilize the players on your team then I think the best coaches make that adjustment, just not sure our guys at the top qualify but time will tell. |
I'm one of those guys who want RG3 but also like McCoy. I think Colt has the potential to become a legitimate starter but it's far from a sure thing so if they have the opportunity to draft RG3, they need to seize that opportunity. Plus, RG3 has way more potential than Colt. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee

I honestly think fans expectations are insane. For people to think a qb like colt to come out year two with the lockout and philosophy change in the offense and then come out and be a star are farfetched of you ask me. And if we draft rg3 if you think he is going to come in and fix our offensive woes prepare to be still let down _________________ 2013 Joe Blackburn HOF Award Recipient

Joe Montana had those same obvious limitations with size and arm strength, he seemed to do ok with it.
As far as he was given a chance, yeah right, he was put on a team with no pass protection, no running game, no playmakers on offense, and an offensive "scheme" that the opposing defense knew EXACTLY what we were doing before the offense even got set up on the line of scrimmage.
These are all FACTS, not skewed biases.
As far as accuracy in 2011, perhaps that has to do with the zero pass protection and no playmakers actually coming open or lining up in the right place or running the right routes.
As far as a Cleveland Brown not earning the right to something in 2012, well that would be Pat Shurmer, he should be chased out of town by an angry mob with pitchforks and torches, his suck was that strong. _________________ WHY SO SERIOUS!!!!! |

1. I love how all of you defending Colt are putting him into the same category and potential level of Joe Montana. Yes he may have had similiar traits but that doesnt mean he is the same player or could be. Thats the same logic that got Raiders screw with JamRus because he had similiar traits to John Elway, and countless others.
2. Lot of people love to defend Colt on this reason BUT so many love to label Tim Couch as a HUGE bust... Colt has a FAR surperior team than Couch did, and he played better! Just saying to all of those who believe Couch was a bust, Colt plays worse than him with a better team. |

Your posts are starting to fall apart and your basically stating one thing in one posts and the complete opposite in the another post...
1. Aren't you always comparing RG3 to Vick (but claim he is better) and yelling "Look what Newton did for the Panthers!" So your allowed to make comparisons but when we do it...were wrong? I'll agree with Rabid in stating that you are full of yourself...
2. I'll give you that the Browns of 2011 might of had the better talent (slightly) than what Couch had to work with...but you act like the Browns of 2011 were so talented overall...you also forget to mention that Colt was expected to run an entirely new offensive system with no one on offense having any experience...the lock out hurt the Browns...and having HC play OC as well...the Browns failed as a team, its that simple. Those of us that state we wouldn't mind giving Colt another year are not exactly against whatever H&H decide to do...
It's funny that your willing to give up on Colt just because he was selected in the 3rd round...but you were all for giving DA and BQ more time? You even said you still believe JaMarcus Russell is a good QB...just be consistent and stick to your "I want RG3 because he is the flavor of the month" since all your posts conflict one another.... |

Was Kolb in the WCO a mistake? It got them a safety net for when McNabb was done, one which they didn't need because of the Vick signing. So they turned a 2nd rounder into a 2nd round pick + Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
We'd be lucky to make a mistake like that.
Nice job expertly avoiding the point, by the way.

I have never seen a group so snake bitten that when someone mentions a QB as a need they look for delusional rationalizations that it is everyone else but the QB.
Has it ever dawned on anyone that maybe the playcalling was so bad because of the lack of talent of the QB and they were only calling the plays that tried to mask his limitations? _________________ “From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renenwed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.” -- J R R Tolkien LOTR |

That's a pretty positive spin on a busted draft pick. They got a QB starved team to take their garbage off of their hands. I'd rather have McCoy than Kolb. _________________ Trent Richardson please!!! |
