I hadn't touched on this since the ruling was made over the weekend, but I would rather just lose the 5th round pick than the cap space, TBH. |

I'm playing devils advocate. You're basically going to a player and asking him to take less money now (dropping his bonus from 5 mil to 1.7 mil) and just give it to him later with no extra incentives (aka more years or more money). Players don't do that on a everyday basis and certainly won't do it because they got injured and didn't perform up to expectations in the first two years of their deal.

To my knowledge, signing bonuses are paid up front but the distribution of the cap is what the proration is for, am I right or wrong?
