He'd be like our 5th option for me.

1. Luck
2. Griffin
3. Flynn
4. Manning
5. Orton
6. Beck (just so we can get a top,qb in the draft next year)

101. Grossman as our definite starter

I think the difference between he and Grossman is turnovers, orton won't turn the ball over as much. Kyle's career rtg is 8 pts higher than Rex's.

Rex: 56 tds, 60 ints, 71.4 rtg

Orton: 80 tds, 57 ints, 79.4 rtg

I'd rather Grossman - knows the offense, knows the team, the team knows him, and he's a true stop-gap. Even if Rex plays well, that rookie is still going to get the reins in 2013.

I'm not against Kyle Orton per se, I just don't think he's going to move the offense better than Grossman. Sure, he probably won't turn the ball over as much but Rex has a quicker release, and the aforementioned knowledge of the offense.

Real easy decision for me.

Just looking at all our options I think its even more important that we land Manning in the offseason.

Thanks for posting. With any free agent QB, I keep feeling that it's okay, as long as we draft a young one to bring up and eventually take over.

midniterc: I think that is the case for all options except Manning. If Manning is acquired, they'll probably wait a year or two and address the immediate needs like tackle, receiver or corner.

I'm sure they'll draft a mid-rounder if Peyton is signed, but I don't really consider that a viable long-term option. Of course, maybe Kirk Cousins becomes a pretty good QB and it might work out pretty well.

Thats my point exactly If we were to get Orton or Manning that means we can focus on a Stud WR or a good RT with the first pick. We can then focus on a Future QB in this draft, or possibly next draft. I think with Orton could give the Skins more wins than Grossman, plus I like next years QB Class better than this year.

True, but I still worry about Mannings health. I do think that orton is a better option than rex though. If our turnovers are cut in half (which Orton Will do), we can score 20 to 25 tds passing (which orton can do) I can see us being a playoff contender next year. I can't envision that with Rex as our starter.

This is probably the most important of all the data points, Footy.

I would rather have Rex as the current stop gap to have someone teach a rookie QB the system instead of having 2 new QB's learning the system.

Feels like a step backwards.

Who cares about Manning health now ( I mean I do hope he is ok football or not) but his contract seems to not be too high and even if he goes down our rookie QB will start.

It wont matter its a win win in all honesty .

Peyton to Arizona = Kolb to D.C?

Peyton to Jets= Sanchez to D.C?

Peyton to Miami= Matt Flynn to D.C?

peyton to KC = Cassel/Orton to D.C?

Etc

We will have a new QB but i do believe its Peyton. Good D good RB's good WR role players and TE's and a good HC in a TOUGH division.
