8.3 million. But I don't think he's actually signed the franchise tender yet so it hasn't been counted against us. _________________

Huge decision by 10:00 tonight. Is Pennington going to say? or go? Is D'Brick still the pick at 4? Or is it Cutler? All we know is the Jets have a huge decision to make in less then 5 hours. _________________

It has been said that it is more likely Pennington stays under the current CBA because the cap hit would be easier to take if we had a new CBA which would be about 105 million.
The current cap is 94.5 million and the Jets and Pennington are getting really close to a restructure.
If they restructured down from 9 million to 3 million that would be HUGE.
We'd go down from 8.6 to 2.6.
Then we'd probably cut Kendall and Mawae.
This has been arguably one of the best cleaning houses possibly ever. The Jets have not had to deal with a ton of dead money. They've restructured a bunch of big contracts. The only bad thing I think has got to be the possible loss of Mawae. _________________

BREAKING NEWS
The Start of free agency has been delayed until 6:00 PM Sunday, or 72 hours.
Each team has until then to get under the salary cap.
This means we will almost assuredly be under the cap by then.
This is also probably a delay tactic to try to get the NFLPA to come to an agreement with the owners. I pray that we can come to an agreement.
You guys do realize that if an agreement is reached, then we will be about 1 million UNDER the cap.
That would be amazing. |

Apparently we quietly snuck under the cap with some restructures.
That'd mean if an agreement is reach we'd be about 10 mil under the cap. |

Well this is certainly good news. I think the worst thing we've done so far is cut Kevin Mawae, but that is not reprehensible.
If the John Abraham deal goes through I'll be extraordinarily happy. _________________

I believe we are actually 13.18 under. I heard that on ESPN, and I have a link as well.
http://www.nj.com/jets/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/114214382634480.xml&coll=1
In the second paragraph it says we are 13.18 under. It also lists some FA's we are interested in. Awesome thread Speil. _________________
