Last year when I traded Bryce Harper for 2nd round pick I got the second round pick of all the picks we were drafting. So this means that E27 is getting what would have been the 5th player drafted by Meco.

Trading draft picks ignores the first 4 keeper rounds. Those first 4 picks are for keepers, and cannot be traded.

When you trade a first round pick, you trade the first pick you have in our yearly draft. So if you want to count the keeper rounds, it is technically a 5th round pick.

In this trade Meco is giving up his 5th pick. Which will be in the 9th round.

Thanks for the clarification.

If people can remember that the 5th round is the first round we draft, we can do it that way going forward. I just thought up until now, that I would let people trade draft picks, and I would adjust them myself come the draft.

I'd rather not have to remember these things. Its a pain when a first rounder isn't a first rounder.

Sorry I'm still confused on how you apply what you said previously to trading away picks in Rd's 22-25?

If Mecco just traded away his 5th rd pick technically his 9th overall by your format because the 4 keepers occupy rds 1-4 his first 4 picks.

Isn't your 25th rd pick technically the 29th using that same format? What if you traded your 19th rd pick instead, isn't that technically the 23rd rd pick because your first 4 picks are already taken in rds 1-4?

Every rd past 22,23,24,25 can't be applied to that logic. I've always assumed we all knew rds 1 through 4 were taken and used on keepers. Thus meaning when I trade my 5th rd pick (1st overall after keepers) ,when you go to edit the draft afterward it is the 5th rd selection not the 9th? If I trade my 25th rd pick I have no 25th rd pick which is the last pick I get in the draft? I rarely do trades so I've never really payed it any mind over the years. I know you have always kept track and done a great job but at what point do the numbers listed (17th rd or 21st ?? example) switch to the actual rd? In essence there are no 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th rd picks in this keeper league because they are applied to four players chosen only rds 5-25?? can be traded? At least that was always my understanding? Confused

This doesn't seem hard to me.

You have 4 keepers. everyone does. You keep the 4 players. Then the draft starts.

So if you trade for a 1st round pick, you are getting a pick in teh 1st round after all the keepers are gone. A 5th round pick is the 5th round after keepers are gone.

This si how every league I have ever been in has worked. Not sure how this suddenly became complicated.

That said, with 4 keepers and a 25 man roster, only picks in rounds 1-21 can be traded.

Right.

Trading your 25th round pick is just essentially giving up your last pick.

Eagles27 trades:

It's technically the opposite and should be listed as rds 5-25 but whatever. When you say I'm trading my 5th rd pick it should be your 5th rd pick 1st overall player taken after your 4 keepers take up rds 1, 2, 3 and 4. At some point that rd# has to become reality? You say Rd 25 is your last pick but what is rd 21 then if my 5th rd pick is technically my 9th?? When do you make the distinction??

You're making this way more complicated than it really is.

I cannot remove rounds 1-4 from the list of assets teams have to trade. As Hockey said, he and probably others don't want to remember to adjust trade offers to reflect keeper rounds. If someone randomly trades their 21st round pick, then I will ask for clarification. Either way, I don't foresee enough trades involving drafts to have this be an issue.

With the way Yahoo saves traded picks, this is the simplest way for me to adjust the draft order next year.

I'm finally pretty comfortable with my outfielders. Marte, Jennings, Victorino, Parra and Granderson whenever he gets healthy.

It isn't Goldschmidt but I'm happy to add a consistent bat to just leave at 1B for the rest of the season.

Hey hey hey it only takes one person to bite at one of those offers.

Cool

Also, if we're using the Goldy trade that was vetoed as a barometer, you never know what some people might be interested in.
