This could be a good thing. Elway said if he doesn't know how to do something he will hire someone who does. Most teams have a guy like this and it looks like Elway may have found a good one.

I thought Xanders was a cap guru? Either way it can't hurt to add more talent into the front office.

I thought that as well, and agree, it doesn't hurt to add more experience and knowledge. I like the fact that Elway is willing to go out and get people like this instead of thinking he can do everything on his own.

Agreed. I gotta say I really am impressed with our former star QB's managerial skills.

Totally agree. I was gonna start a thread with a poll giving Elway a letter grade but havent had time. He has really impressed me with the steps he is taking to rebuild this team. A+ job IMO.

It just shows that we as fans like to think we know stuff, but all we know is what the media tells us, and most of the time they're wrong.

Totally agree. I'm really excited to see how this plays out during the draft and really with the free agents. It seems lately that that is how the broncos are getting some key players.

Eg. Chris Harris
McGahee
Dawkins - (no longer here but still relevant)
Chris Clark
Daniel Fells

I'm sure there are others

Very Impressive. Quite a 1st year. Seems like the guy he picked is arguably the best in the business at what he does. An amazing set of credentials.

Good job John!

Looks like John is getting ready to get every ounce of value out of every cent of our vast amount of cap space. Great hire. Applause

Elway was quick to point out last year that Xanders isn't just a cap guy that the media portrayed him to be. I also remember him saying that Brian does a good job leading the scouting department. I've always read good things about Xanders. I think now that he has his own voice he is able to do his job.

It will be interesting to see how they do without the second overall pick. Picking at 25 isn't quite as easy. Wink The 2012 draft is very important for this regime. Maybe more than last years was.

lets hope they continue to add to their core group. Last year between the draft and UDFA's they added 3 (maybe more) core rookies and 1 FA DT that if re-signed would be an addition to that.

Thats how you build a franchise. Love to see more of the same. Smile

Interesting read:

Quote:
Clearly that decision was business-driven: the Broncos weren’t happy with the way Bluem was negotiating contracts, and putting two and two together, it was because Bluem was becoming too soft for the Broncos’ liking.
