I just came in here to say that. I like this kid. Over 5000+ passing yards, 41 TD's, there is not enough noise made about this guy. Very impressive and I hope he can keep it up.
This year he doubled his career TD passes that he had coming into the season, with less INT's thrown.
Impressive. _________________

With all due respect to Stafford, I gotta say I don't think this award should be given out every year. Players are expected to come back fro shoulder injuries like Staffords. Players of Stafford's ilk are expected to perform at a high level. He had a GREAT season and I could see him winning an MVP in his lifetime but the Comeback player of the year should be about more than just overcoming an injury.
Mike Vick = comeback player of the year. How do you get back from prison?
Tedy Bruschi = comeback from a stroke. Now THAT's a comeback.
I'm at work right now and don't the time to go in depth but you get my point. Feel free to disagree but I just think it should be about more than just coming back from an injury. Guys come back from injuries all the time.
IMO - Mark Herzlich deserves the award more than Stafford this year. You try coming back from cancer. |

If you look at the past 3 comeback player awards Stafford is nowhere near the amount of a comeback that those players were..Brady, Pennington and Vick were all great stories.
I feel like Alex Smith just deserved it more. _________________

Except his comeback was in NCAA football not the NFL. _________________

This is an interesting place. All of the talk during the offseason was how injury prone Stafford was, how he likely wont play a full season, and (yes) how that "Bust" label was starting to get placed on him.
Now he was "expected to do well" the entire time, and coming back from shoulder injuries to throw for over 5,000 yards and 41 TDs doesn't make him deserving of this award?
Interesting. _________________

I know sarcasm doesn't really come through that well on the internet. So I'm just gonna assume everyone who said they think it should have been anyone other than Stafford was being sarcastic. There really was no other real choice for the award. _________________

The best part about the results: neither Alex Smith or Steve Smith finished 2nd in voting... D'Qwell Jackson did (who missed significant time due to injury). _________________

Well deserved, he might not have had any great seasons in the past but he was looking good before his injury last year. After all he did throw for over 5k yards this season to. _________________
