Alright guys I have taken over as the GM, as nbaker decided he wasnt able to do it. Other teams have a jump on us so we need to get our staff together, I will need active members on the staff to assist me (im relatively new to this).
| skaterbirdhouse wrote: | How It Works:
For those of you new to FFMD this mock is unlike any other mock regularly seen in the GM mock draft forum. Everyone can and will be included, meaning the signup is not based on a first come, first serve basis. We encourage as many members as would like to join staffs and actively contribute to the event. There are multiple jobs you can sign up for within each team forum’s war room, and entire forum participation is critical to the success of this mock.
Any thread created about this mock from now on will start off with the title of FFMD-12. Do not start other threads about this mock at any point during the process. They will be locked or deleted as organization is of high priority.
Who is the Boss?
This will be a collective effort but yours truly will be running FFMD-12. Any questions about this mock can be PMed to me. Please remember to look through the rules for your answer before PMing us, as chances are that the answers are within the FFMD-12 topics.
The Timeline:
--Monday, February 6th--
Staff positions will be finalized within each team war rooms. Obviously you can add any interested members after this deadline as a scout, since an unlimited number is allowed. The position titles will transition into what is listed below. Obviously you will have the ability to customize your staff into any positions you would like. Please use our staff positions as a guide. For those who complete their staff early you may use this time to prepare for the upcoming periods within FFMD-12. Please remember that even if you do not have an official title within the staff created you may still offer your input and opinion to the event within your war room. We encourage anyone to contribute in whichever capacity you would like. It is highly recommended that you use this extra time for preparation. Staying organized is critical to a successful FFMD.
--Monday, February 6th--
Rosters and Salary Information will be finalized. Free Agency rules will be posted in a different thread. The cap will also be posted along with each teams cap space.
--Tuesday, February 7th--
Franchise tag/Transition tag/Release period begins from 8am to 10pm. All teams interested in placing the franchise tag/transition tag on an upcoming UFA must be placed within this deadline. Figures will outlined in the transactions thread. The cap saving formula for releasing a player will be posted in the upcoming days. The ground rules for the UFA period will be announced in great detail at a later date.
The Jobs Available:
-General Manager: LivingLegendWFC
-Assistant GM: BayArea07
-Head Coach: Professor Oak
-Offensive Coordinator: BigMike1b
-Defensive Coordinator: NCOUGHMAN
-Capologist: This person is in charge of maintaining and keeping tabs of the salary information of the team. At all times the team must maintain a budget in regards to the annual revenue the team brings in. The responsibility for correct figures will lie in his hands and an excel spreadsheet for constant updating is usually helpful. A 53 man roster must be maintained as well.
-Director of College Scouting: Baggabonez
-President of Player Personnel: Rolni
-Director of Media Relations: Will report to the writers with feedback and information relative to the news of what is happening with the organization.
-National Scout: Will evaluate draftable players. This can be position specific or not. RB scout will look into RB’s, LB scout will look into potential LB’s to add to the team.
Scouting Department
General Scouts: JTagg7754
Specialists
WR/TEs: BigMike1b
With that said if you are the national scout that does not mean you cannot have an impact on decisions in other areas. The positions are set up like an NFL franchise where everyone an opinion and will decide the outcome of final decisions. Please contribute as much as you would like. You can still help out with trades, etc… just focus your attention towards your job title first and foremost. Teamwork and communication is key to a successful and fun FFMD. One note- when seeking out trades please only have one representative from your team, preferably the Assistant GM or GM make the official offers. We do not need 5 members talking trades for the same player. As mentioned before GM’s are welcome to come up with their own jobs and job titles. Examples: Director of College Scouting, VP of player personnel. The above positions are just to get you going and please be as creative as you wish. |
Alright guys lets start putting a staff together. Just post and inform me of what position you would like. After we have our staff filled out I will start an official War room thread. I would like to get this done as quickly as possible, while still leaving enough time for everybody that wants to join. Remember were not limited to the roles that are mentioned above. We can add offensive and defensive coordinator, more scouts, and so on. Let the signups begin. _________________

I'd like to be the Head Coach if it's okay with you guys.
I'd be the assistant GM, but I don't think I have enough time for that one. _________________

Understandable, I probably wouldnt have taken the GM role if this was two or three weeks ago, but I am going to have some free time as I am taking a couple of weeks off from training. Kind of my vacation, going to hang out with the girlfriend and my son, catch up on some television, etc.
You could always take a scouting job if that interests you. Do some research on some prospects in your spare time? If not, like I said I completely understand. _________________

I'm curious, what perspective will the staff take? McKenzie's or other? Would the staff take a long-term, sabermetric perspective of gutting the roster of bad contracts and adding value or will a priority be placed on attempting to win right now at all costs?
Knowing your vision would help us determine how best we can contribute. No sense in assembling a staff without chemistry going in several different directions. _________________ 2013 Mancrush: DT Richardson, OT Joeckel, FS Vaccaro, FS Rambo, WR Dobson, RB Michael, TE McDonald, OT Foketi, WR Swope |

Nah. Don't have the time to scout and don't like it unless it's real life and in the top rounds of the draft. And I even hate looking for trades and FA because I hate dealing with people. Everyone overrates their players. Plus, in the end you don't accomplish anything. Maybe if FFMD rosters were to be adjusted into Madden and simmed through a season it'd be cool. I ust plain hate FFMD _________________

I think the first priority is to get this team into a more favorable cap situation. I also want to make it a priority to get younger at some positions, and add some pieces that are of good value. Were not going to overpay for average players just to try and be a better team in the short term. I am aiming for putting us in a position that would set us up for success long term. Now that doesnt mean were going to blow every spot on the team up either. _________________

Off the top of my head, Baggabonez would make a good director of college scouting. He's usually analyzing college prospects 3 years too early. So, he's usually on top of many prospects in the draft. _________________ Bah-Weep-Granah-Weep-Nini-Bong

That was actually going to be my suggestion. And again its not like the roles are set in stone and that is the only thing you give your opinion about. I do think that would be a good title for him though. His mock drafts are very detailed and informative. _________________
