ALSO, Eric Smith should be kept this year. I know he is terrible at coverage but with the uncertainty of Jim Leonard, we should hang on to him for cheap.
Eric Smith did provide 89 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, 4 Pass Deflections, and 1 INT.....While these stats aren't the greatest....They're good. Might try him at SS next yer if Leonard can't go and get a true Ball Hawk in FA or draft |
He holds a $3 million cap figure (not in real life, but according to FFMD) so there's no way we can keep him unless we're aloud to give him a pay reduction.
What are the rules regarding restructuring contracts? I already have a few ideas in mind that can save us $10-15 million for this year. _________________

| Really, cutting players just because they suck? We are not babies. Believe me dealing FA is not that easy as you are about to attenuate the roster. |

I'd rather draft a replacement and pay him $500,000 than keep Eric at his current salary (mind you no dead money attached). I personally like Eric Smith because I think he's tough and is a really good 46 safety when healthy, but not for $3 million. _________________

Hey fellow FFMDers, just wanted to throw this out there:
Eagles 2012 Trade Block
| Quote: | Asante Samuel, CB
DeSean Jackson, WR (Tag and Trade)
Winston Justice, OT
Mike Patterson, DT
Darryl Tapp, DE
Jamaal Jackson, C/OG |
Please feel free to inquire with realistic offers for any of these players. Also, we will listen to any realistic offer for any player on our roster other than LeSean McCoy, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Trent Cole. _________________

If we play 7 round mock, sure.
3m for Smith is not a problem but I think we can cut and then re-sign him back for cheap if it is not against the FFMD rule. |

Yeah I would love to see Wayne Hunter & Eric Smith cut. The only reason why smith has those tackles is because who ever he was covering caught the ball . So he had to make the tackle. _________________

Julian Posey and Ricky Sapp are both players I could see contributing to this team. Julian Posey has the makings of a great special teams player and could turn into a decent dime back. Sapp has a ton of potential as a pass rusher if he is able to stay healthy. He has the perfect measurables to play rush linebacker, but he also is the fluid athlete it takes to be good in coverage.
In terms of which players to release, Eric Smith and Wayne Hunter are no brainers to me. Cutting both of them will save almost 6 million in cap space with neither of them having any dead cap hit.
Other players to consider releasing are Brandon Moore, Mike DeVito, Bart Scott, and Santonio Holmes. For the sake of this FFMD-12 it does not make sense to cut either Holmes or Scott due to the fact that there dead cap hit probably won't decrease depending the new contract that they would sign. I asked the mod running FFMD and he said that probably won't happen but he will let me know. I do however think we should stick both Santonio Holmes and Bart Scott on the trade back, everyone agree?
I am also leaning towards not cutting DeVito or Moore because the hole it would create at there respective position is not worth the amount of money we would be saving on there contracts. |

If we do move him, The only thing I can see us doing with Bart is package him with a late round pick like a 5th, and trade him for a pick in the 4th round if anyone would take him.
I agree about Moore & Devito. I would try to maybe restructure Moore's deal. I don't know the specifics on Devito's deal. _________________

Saving = cap hit - salary. Is that right?
How do you plan to bolster S with this given DC? |
