Welcome to the Steelers War Room for the FFMD-12
This is my second stint as GM for the Steelers on these forums. You will find that I tend to run this like the Steelers would. I'm a bit conservative in regards to moves ( see rule below).
I have one main rule for this mock : Any trade or move we make can not leave a hole in our lineup This will allow us to draft BPA. I will always ask it for any trade that is proposed. Hoping to get a player later to fill the hole is not acceptable.

Glad to see you got this up quickly brother. I'm here to take on any serious responsibility you need. So if you need the assistant GM, I'm here for the job.
I'm still shocked at the cap space. negative 6 million? That's impossible. _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

If you need someone for Capologist I can give it a shot. Seems like it wouldn't take a whole lot of knowledge in terms of players and I have a decent enough amount of time so I shouldn't have too much of a problem with it. If someone wants the spot though id rather them have it over me since they would likely be more active then I am.
My work schedule for the most part is Mon-Fri 0600-1600 EST FYI. _________________

And I think the Chiefs had something around 50 Mil. That was just a quick glance through to see if there was any other team in the red. _________________

I suggest you take a look at BTSC. They are projecting that you guys have something ridiculous like $140m committed to the 40-odd players under contract atm .
As I said in the General Discussion thread, feel free to check any of the salaries against spotrac.com or Rotoworld (or any other site that you can find that provides a full breakdown of rosters) and PM me with any changes you think should be made, along with some sort of supporting evidence.
Also, sorry to pile on even more, but I'm pretty sure that $125 (the salary cap) - $133.14 (your committed cap amount atm) actually equals -$8.14, not what is listed in the Announcement thread.
Because you guys are over the cap, I believe that the rules imposed on teams in prior FFMDs that were over the salary cap means that you guys can only make moves to get under the salary cap (i.e. cut or trade players ) before you are allowed to make any contract offers (that includes tendering RFAs like Mike Wallace). I can't imagine that that will be too hard given how many of your players are overpaid (Colon, Ward, Foote, Allen, Battle etc) _________________

By the look of things, here's the problems...
Kemoeatu (4.35 total, 3.5 can be saved)
Farrior (3.8 total, 2.8 can be saved)
Ward (4.6 total, 4.0 can be saved)
McFadden (2.66 total, 2.5 saved)
That right there is a total of nearly 13 million. That doesn't include replacing guys like Antonio Smith with guys that need resigned like Redman and McClendon (ERFA) plus we can let Sepulveda walk and ERFA tag Kapinos
Just some food for thought. _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

Not sure whats up with the other positions. but Id be interested in Prez of Player personnel or Defensive coordinator. I was going to volunteer for National Scout, but that might be better left to someone who got to follow College football more closely this past season. _________________

Jon Scott is making $2.2 million. Buh bye.
Larry Foote 3 million. I dont have an official role yet, but Id personally rather cut Foote and keep Farrior and groom a rookie behind Farrior for a year. May even be able to get Foote back at a cheaper cost, but no biggie if we cant.
And Colon could be cut too. Would save over 5 million, and personally, I think he is very expendable and easily replacable. I guess it depends on your opinion of Colon, but even if you do like him, he is coming off 2 IR seasons and may be a liability for the rest of his career.
I was going to say Aaron Smith, but they dont have him under contract for us.
Anyway, thats my take. _________________

I'll probably just advise now and then as I never seem to find the time to do anything too significant. I've also had limited access to college ball this year so I'm not super in the know. I'll take a bigger role if necessary. _________________

President of Player Personnel is the next position to fill. It will be mainly for identifying players to target on trades or FA that fit the Steeler needs. Any volunteers? _________________

Remember that we need to be at 46 players before the draft and we are at 61 under contract. It will not be hard cutting that amount. _________________
