Regardless, I don't think anyone can get higher than Moss could have now, or ever will. Just look at his straight frame in the air on that picture. He could have finished a sandwich before he came down.

woodson's picture looks more impressive to me.

Maybe that's because you're a Michigan fan. Laughing

Moss was definitely the best in the past ten years. Aj Green is beastly though.

V. Green from Nevada had the best result at the 2011 NFL Combine, with a 42.5 inch (108 cm) vertical jump.
New York Jets rookie Darrelle Revis has a 38-inch vertical jump this year (NY Times, Oct 2007).
Randy Moss has a vertical leap score of 51" (130 cm), while 265 lbs Jevon Kearse has a best jump of 40" (102 cm).
The best vertical jump at the NFL Combine is 46" by Gerald Sensabaugh (FS), from North Carolina in 2005 (more NFL combine results).

that means his head should have been 5 inches above the rim on his max jumps!

the high vertical numbers that they use in the NBA aren't the actual vertical leap, they are with a step of run-up, not standing still and jumping vertically
Not to take anything away from a 48 inch vertical off one step

Gerald Sensabaugh is the clear #1. Everyone else either couldn't jump as high as him at the combine, or they were too chicken to jump at the combine.

according to many folks here, NFL players won't jump any higher even if they max vert.

i'm curious if megatron or randy moss can get to 50 on a max vert, but maybe they are better with 2 foot.

it's rare for NBA players to have better standing vert than max vert, but it does happen occasionally.

logic behind this is for NFLers using 2 thigh muscle to lift off is better than 1. for NBA players, having some acceleration while jumping with 1 foot helps.

basically NFL & NBA players have 2 very different body type and work out routine. Jimmy graham, who was pretty much done nothing as a basketball player did 38 inch vert at the combine. 38 inch standing vert in NBA is very rare. vince carter who is twice a leaper than jimmy graham only did 36 inch. and in last 20 years only 3 NBA players had over 38 inch standing vert.
