I sense the sacrasm ... however in his 48 games weve never heard his name once ... and for a long snapper that is a good thing. His snaps are always crisp and on target. Also he isnt a bad tackler too he gets down the field pretty well on punts. _________________

Precisely. He may not have been number 1 on our list, but having a consistently good LS is invaluable. We all saw what happened when we lost Mr. Dependable Lindell, i believe losing Sanborn could have had a very similar impact to our ST. _________________

More news today, but I didn't want to start another thread for this. The Bills staff has announced two new hires as well as existing coaches in new positions.
New hire - Andrew Dees (Assistant OL coach)
New hire - Eric Thatcher (Defensive Quality Control)
Bob Bicknell will coach the WRs
Adrian White will be the assistant DB coach
Bob Sanders will coach our LBs _________________

Bicknell was the TE coach last year ... wonder who we will have as TE coach.
Thatcher played for Wanny at Pitt a few years ago, I believe he was a safety _________________

Can't complain with resigning a guy who's been solid. He hasn't had too many bad snaps (hardly any actually) so I'm glad he's back.
The more alarming news to come out in this is the report that they're still not talking to Stevie about a new contract. _________________

Do not forget that we once had a very solid long snapper that we cut and it caused problems. We had Mike Schneck during 2005 and 2006, and he was so good that he made the AFC All Pro Team as the LS. As final cuts were made for the 2007 season, the Bills decided it would be better to assign the LS job to someone who could play another position (DE Ryan Neill), rather than "wasting" a roster spot on a LS specialist.
During the 2007 season, I remember the Bills suddenly having problems, because we no longer had a reliable long snapper. Lindell seemed to do alright overall, but ask Brian Moorman what he thought about losing Schneck. In 2007 Moorman had the worst year of his career, in terms of average punt length. With Schneck, Moorman's average was over 45 yards in 2005 and over 43 yards in 2006, but then in 2007 he averaged under 41 yards. In addition to Moorman doing worse, I believe we had some bad snap turn overs. |
