The Make-A-Movie Draft XI

Hello again, everyone. GJ is back to host the biggest event on the Entertainment Forum once again! I know most of you have done these before, but even if you have, I'd recommend reading through the rules, as any questions you might have are likely answered there. Of course, if you have any other questions about the MaMD, be sure to ask me.

The Basics

The MaM Draft is about creating a hypothetical future film. You will be assembling your whole crew for the project, putting together actors, actresses, specialists, and your film's director. The way we go about picking these people is through a snake style draft. You can draft any of your cast and crew at any time in the draft. You are allowed to use the same person for multiple roles in your film (ex. George Clooney as both your lead actor and the director), as well. Once you have selected everyone you need for your film, you will be ready to present it. In the final thread, you will show your film, describe the story and the characters, and present anything else you want to show about your movie.

The Draft

The draft will feature eight rounds for you to assemble your crew. The final two rounds will be two-selections-per-pick. After the draft is over, there will be a 24 hour undrafted free agency period for you to freely pick anyone else you need. Actual time allotted once OTC (on the clock) is subject to change, but I will start it out at 5 hours. You become OTC once all people above you have picked or been skipped. Anyone skipped can make up the skipped pick at any time, but the draft will not wait for them. If you are worrried that you might not be around when you pick comes up, PM me the pick and I will get it in on time. To fully ensure that you don't get skipped, sending me a small big board is ideal.

Trades are also allowed within the draft, whether that be to trade up, trade down, shop around your selections, or whatever. Once a trade is agreed on by two parties, one of you must PM me the trade so it can be reflected in the draft thread. My only request is that you do not try to trade down while you are on the clock, as it slows everything down.

The Final Presentation

Once your entire crew is put together, its time to create your "write-up". This is the official film bio of your project. You may present this in any form you wish, but recommended things to include for award consideration are...

Your Film Title
Your Director and any other behind the scenes crew
A list of character bios, with the actor playing them
A very short film synopsis
and many also choose to include their entire plot description

The more stuff you include, the more likely your film will be received positively.

Lastly, I will provide a list of links to previous drafts. You can look through the draft results of each one, to get a rough idea of where certain actors/directors are valued. You can use this to get a feel of where you will need to draft certain people that you want.

I included people who said they'd join via PM, but EVERYONE should still check in here to confirm their participation.

Two more things I'd like to point out to everyone.

1. I'd really like to push to see more of your film during the draft process. I want to push for discussion of the films while its all actually going on. I've also found that films we get to familiarize ourselves with earlier are generally more positively received in the end. It also allows ourselves to gather some of the context to better analyze your picks.

2. Again, if you are EVER afraid of not being by a computer when you pick swings around, PM me your top 2-3 picks so I can keep everything moving promptly. If you have a certain way you'd like to present your draft pick, just PM me how you want it shown and I'll put it up exactly how you want it.

Hi. My time off from this has given me like 6 ideas, one of which I've already pretty much written.

My film this time around will be an adaption of a classic graphic novel. I'm afraid of revealing much more until I get my top 2 picks.

Well, assuming all of the people who reserved their place today will check in, we are already over the minimum bar of 15 people. Once I confirm the yet-to-check-in people, we should be ready to launch.
