|
|

By now you know the drill. What is the third most important position to address this offseason? Say we only have enough money for one free agent or say we have one draft pick left, and we can only get one position. Our three biggest needs were already addressed.
Previous results:
Day 1, Desean Jackson: Not many expect to tag/trade or one-year rental Jackson. About 50/50 on signing long-term or letting go
Day 2, Asante Samuel: No one really thinks we should let him walk or keep him here. Everyone thinks we should trade him, maybe in a package. His value is a third, maybe a late second if he's willing to restructure. '
Day 3, where to pick: It's pretty much even on if we should trade up, down, or stay put. No one suggested trading our first for a player
Day 4, FA priority: 62% say Mathis is our highest priority, 29% is the next highest group and they're for Desean Jackson. Most people in their post said Derek Landri is the second or third highest priority. Antonio Dixon, Owen Schmitt and King Dunlap are all guys people would want to re-sign but aren't going to overpay for. Everyone else is walking.
Day 5, which QB to get: 31% percent of people voted for Jason Campbell, 25% for Kirk Cousins. 2 people voted for Tannehill, 2 for Russel Wilson, 1 for Garrard, 1 for Weeden, 1 said trade up for RG3. Then we had some write-ins. Quite a few said they wouldn't mind Shaun Hill as a backup. Trent Edwards was written in. Kellen Moore was written in. Dennis Dixon or Josh Wilson would be okay in some peoples' eyes.
Day 6, which HB to get: Apparently there is no consensus guy. There were 18 total votes. Isaiah Pead and LaMichael James tied for the top 2 with 3 votes each. Doug Martin and Leron McClain had two. Jason Snelling, Chris Polk, Bernard Pierce, Cyrus Gray, Robert Turbin had one. Doug Martin and Isaiah Pead were the favorites, with Chris Rainey being seen as a good weapon but not necessarily a good HB. McClain was the most polarizing player.
Day 7, LB situation: 35% of people think we need at least two new starters, and that this should be the focus of our off-season. Either our first two picks be a linebacker, get two good linebackers in free agency or through trade, or a combination of those options. 29% of people think we should have Chaney at SAM and then sign or trade for a veteran MIKE. 17% of people thought we should keep Chaney at MIKE and sign or trade for a veteran SAM. Only 16% of the people thought we should have Chaney start one position and then draft another starter.
Day 8, who to pick first if offense: The vast majority of people at 74% say Michael Floyd. 2 people said trade the farm for Andrew Luck, a couple people would be okay for trading up RG3 but then some are adamantly opposed to that. Nobody thinks we need an offensive lineman or tight end.
Day 9, who to pick if defense: 26% say Michael Brockers, 21% say trade up for Coples. Kuechly had 2 of 19 votes. Nick Perry, Melvin Ingram, Jerel Worthy, Fletcher Cox, Vontaze Burflict, Zach Brown, Dont'a Hightower, and Dre Kirkpatrick each had one vote.
Day 10, who NOT to draft: Luke Kuechly was the loser here, taking 38% of the vote. Trading up for Brockers and Kirkpatrick were each in second place at 19%. Michael Floyd was the only one nobody was opposed to.
Day 11, who NOT to draft day 2: Dre Kirkpatrick and Michael Brockers were tied for the two losers, so both were eliminated. No need for a tiebreaker for losers in a poll. Each had 40% of the vote, Floyd had 10%, Cox had 10%, and Coples didn't have any votes.
Day 12, who NOT to draft day 3: It wasn't even close. Fletcher Cox got 73% of the vote. Coples 20%, Floyd 6%.
Day 13, who to pick: Michael Floyd beat trading up for Coples 71% to 28%
Day 14, position priority day 1: Linebacker won in a landslide, taking 58% of the vote. QB, DT and DE all tied for second place at 11% each. No other position had a vote except punter, which I'm assuming is a troll vote. Punter is definitely a need, Chas Henry sucked. But it's not our number one need, everyone here would agree with that. Except maybe one guy.
Day 15, position priority day 2: It was a fairly close one. Defensive tackle won with 30% of the vote. Safety, wide receiver and defensive end each had 20%.
Day 16, position priority day 3: Receiver won by a wide margin at 57% of the vote. Defensive end came in second at 14%. QB, HB, CB and safety each had 7% of the vote. _________________

DE, but at this point it's more development and rotation position than actual needs _________________

Well if we were to actually get our first 3 needs. But what if there weren't any players available at those first 3 positions? I should have clarified in my first post instead of copy/pasting yesterday's _________________

Pretty much. Assuming (and we all know what happens when you do that) the Eagles pick up a solid MIKE and either re-sign DeSean or address WR in FA, they would be more or less in position to go BPA almost the entire draft. Which is exactly what you want to do. _________________

Well what if you have two guys you would consider on the same level? They are 1a and 1b of who's left on your draftboard. You like different things about both of them.
What do you do then? You can't just say BPA, because how do you determine who BPA is in a situation like that? You can't exactly compare a corner to an offensive tackle. It's apples and oranges.
So if they both have a good college career, no off-field issues, no injury history, and good physical traits, then what do you decide on?
The answer is position priority. Do you think we need to look at a safety? Do you believe we drafted enough guys there and need to let our guys develop, or do you think what we got will never pan out?
Or are you more concerned about McCoy's backup situation? Or maybe you think Vick isn't the QB of the future, or dislike his injury history, and you dislike Edwards+Kakfa and want to get another guy to compete?
Just saying BPA is overly simplistic and missing the point. _________________

Oh wow I guess I can see how you thought that, but that's not what I meant at all.
I meant this is the day 4 of us ranking our priorities. _________________

Give me a CB. I don't want to see Joselio on the field, ever. Don't care what stats you throw at me about him, I hate him and think he sucks. _________________
