All the Wizards need to do is go 30-3 the rest of the way to make the playoffs. Well, with a lot of help, they could make it in with as little as 23-10.

Somehow, I don't see that happening.

Of course, if they go 0.563 the rest of the way, they'll end up at 33-49, which will be good for a nice 0.402 record, and 10th overall pick, if they're lucky.
neither do I but its been fun and going to continue to be fun watching them try!

I'd rather watch the wizards than the worst team in hockey right now!

Ssf is probably rolling over in his grave with how crappy the caps are playing. Sad

My nephew kicking butt so early in the season:

http://www.tusculumpioneers.com/article.asp?articleID=4011

Quote:
McGranahan retired 12 consecutive batters until the sixth inning when he walked the bases loaded with two outs. Shepard came on to relieve McGranahan and he retired Jesse Bartle on a lineout to right field, which was hauled in by Trey Drewery in the gap.

Gresch pitched well in his season debut, holding Tusculum scoreless through the first six innings. He got out of a serious jam in the sixth when Cade Stallings led off with a walk, moved to second on a bunt and advanced to third on a passed ball. Notre Dame right-fielder Jess Bartle came up with a play of the game when he hauled in Joe Polichetti’s fly out and threw out Stallings at the plate for the final out of the inning to keep the game scoreless.

In the top of the seventh, Notre Dame got a pair of runners aboard, but Shepard picked off a runner at second base, while Polichetti threw out another at second trying to steal.

The Pioneers would plate the only run of the contest as Vinny Ferrara legged out an infield single. He moved into scoring position on Tripper Crisson’s walk. Gresch came up with a strikeout for the second out of the inning. Stevens drove in the lone run of the game with his infield single to score Ferrara with go-ahead score.

Shepard would retire the final seven outs in a row, including four consecutive strikeouts to secure the win. Shepard (1-0) pitched 3.1 hitless innings, including two walks and four strikeouts. McGranahan pitched well in his no-decision, going 5.2 innings, allowed two hits, no runs, three walks and two strikeouts.

What has John Wall meant to the Wizards?

Since he returned they are 9-7 record, one of their best runs since we had Arenas, Jamison and Butler all healthy 5 years ago. John is an absolute team player, unlike many players this team has drafted, signed in FA or traded for in the previous three decades. The wizards are starting to form a strong chemistry. I thought before this recent stretch, the wizards needed to make a move for Rudy gay but I'm glad we didn't becsuse its clear we have good pieces, they just weren't healthy the first two months of the season and Wall has been a catlyst for this teams recent run.

Now that Wall can run the offense the way it needs to be run and create open shots for other players, we see the outside shooting we have with Martell Webster. He is averaging 13.3 points per game since Wall came back (and 17.5 over the last 4 games when Wall’s minutes have increased) as opposed to 9.5 before Wall’s return. He is hitting 3 three point shots a game and shooing 45% from three.

Okafor has been amazing down low since Walls return. Wall is amazingly fast with the ball, he can get into the lane and get the bigs easy shots whixh has benefited Okafor the most. He’s had 7 double-doubles since Wall came back.

Wizards rookie Bradley Beal has been shooting 48 percent from the field and even more impressive is his 48 percent from three. It sucks Beal injured his wrist and has missed the last 5 games because he was really starting to become a great #2 for us.

Wall is also playing well himself. He is averaging 15 pts, and 7 assists. Once Whittman started giving Wall starters minutes with 35 minutes a game, he has averages 17.5 points and 8.8 assists.

We have the 4th best defense in the NBA since Wall returned also. We are 7th in points allowed and 9th in rebounds. Our defense has just been flat out amazing and is another huge key to how our record has improved. The truth is we have a bunch of great guys who play hard, play as a team and have done so all year. Earlier in the year they played hard every night also, they were just missing Wall, their pg and catalyst.

We've also been winning against some of the best teams in the NBA. The Clippers, Knicks, and Nets. I don't think we need to sign a big free agent or trade for a big name player this offseason. They just need to retain what they have and make a smart selection with their lottery pick. The Wizards average age is the youngest in the league at 23, so they are only going to mature as a team and get better together over thr next few years. I believe we are a lottery pick away from being a complete team that will make the playoffs next year. The only thing we have to do this offseason is to make sure we lock up Martell Webster long term.

Wall has had a huge impact on this team and he's a great young player that they missed the first two months. He has picked up the teams pace in the half cour and especially in the fast break. Other teams don't know how to defend us. They have difficulty stoping Wall on fast breaks and defending our shooters who are wide open to hit three pointers.

Laughing well they stunk up the joint last night, but most of that is because Whitman benched Okafor for a long period of time in the second half.
