Dont know how others enjoyed their holiday weekend.
But I stayed on the boat, also ran the jetski all up and down the rivers and bay.
Never seen so few boats out there. Every year I been up here. Each one I see fewer and fewer on the water.
Went to a fishing tourny thing for the final night. Live band and all else. They say its usually booming with people and booze. But there were such few people there this year the band was packed up and left by 9. When the event should have run till midnight. Wasnt 30 boats entered they said, when in the past theyve had 300.
I dont get whats happening with people not wanting to be out on the water up here. Gas prices havent really changed all that much. _________________

Typically, the bride and groom pick out the clothes for the Best Man/Maid of Honor, and since Prince is now his bitter rival, I'm going to guess that Helu had this outfit in mind for Amukamura. |

67,600 turned out to see Brazil stomp the US in soccer last night.
Thats a pretty impressive turnout for a game that could be much compared to watching a home Duke football squad play LSU.
Hopefully Americas interest keeps rising in the game. In 10 years time Im expecting a very competitive team to be built up. _________________

That's more than the redskins draw! The US is competitive in Soccer, we just aren't the best in the world at it like Brazil, Italy, and Germany.
The game of soccer has grown a lot on the coasts of the US over the past 25 years. I grew up in the DC area and played soccer from when I was 5 till I got to highschool and all of my friends did also. My cousins grew up in small towns in Ohio and they didn't even play the sport and they might have just gotten high school soccer teams recently, but everyone played american football. I don't see that changing much in the middle parts of this country anytime soon.
We probably will never be as good as those coutries where soccer is their national sport or 2nd. In the USA, most kids choose to play american Football, Basketball and Baseball before they focus on soccer. I don't see that changing anytime soon. The best athletes in the US choose to go into these sports where they can become multi millionaires in this country quickly, instead of having to go overseas to make the big $$. I just don't see that changing, EVER!
We will continue to be competitive in soccer and do ok at the World Cup and olympics but I don't know if we will ever win it.
Ask those countries to play us in american football though, and we'll stomp them! _________________

I just saw this in a CNN text message update:
| Quote: | | More than 2,000 former NFL players unite in suing league, alleging it "deliberately ignored" risks of head injuries. |
It's in the courts hands now!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/nfl-concussions-lawsuits-aim-to-improve-the-damaged-brain/2012/06/07/gJQA9egaLV_story.html
On Junior Seau: | Quote: | "He did what players think you’re supposed to do: save your brain” said Amen, a California-based physician and psychiatrist. “They have to learn there’s another way. Don’t give up on your brain while you’re alive. Try to fix it.“
Amen’s research and stated mission — to rehabilitate a damaged brain — gets at the heart of class-action lawsuits filed against the NFL. A master complaint was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia that laid out the claims of more than 2,000 former football players. In addition to personal damages, the complaint outlines the need for medical monitoring, a costly undertaking that would require the NFL to pay for medical testing and treatment for the duration of a player’s lifetime.
Whether a brain that’s been damaged can truly be fixed is a subject still open to discussion in the scientific community. Amen, though, thinks he’s on the right track and is confident that he can take a player who’s suffered multiple concussions and improve decision-making, reasoning, depression, mood and memory. He’s worked with 117 former NFL players and says eight out of 10 have shown improvement.
“I could care less about the politics or even the lawsuits,” Amen said. “This is a brain-damaging sport. When we started our research, everyone was actively in denial. They’re changing now, and I’m excited about that. But we got to start talking about the next step: Let’s rehab their heads.”
|
Sounds like a good thing to me. If they can get funding from the NFL through this suit to do more research to rehabilitate a damaged human brain, it could eventually cure alzheimers disease and dementia for the general public as well.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/post/gary-clark-on-the-nfls-head-trauma-litigation/2012/06/07/gJQALVsaLV_blog.html
Gary Clark on the NFL's head trauma litigation:
| Quote: | “I think a lot of guys have joined the lawsuit, for a couple reasons,” he said. “Some, because they truly believe in the suit. And others, because you just always support your teammates, former teammates and the guys that are playing now. It’s a big brotherhood. And I’m sure I’ll join the suit as well, just because it’s a brotherhood. You take care of your own. You just have to. It’s just what it is.”
Andy Pollin, one of the hosts, asked Clark if he’s feeling effects from the head shots suffered as a player.
“I wouldn’t say that I’m feeling effects, but you know the effects are there,” he said. “Any time your bell is rung, quote unquote, and you don’t know where you are for a period of five seconds to 10 seconds, it definitely is gonna affect you. But also it’s a part of the game. I understand that’s a part of the game, but I like that they’re trying to take precautions, to watch out for the players and take care of the players. But in the same breath, I understand it’s part of the game.” |

This is so awesome. I love the innocence of children and how they want to fix everything. |
That's a nice little story. I hope Jacobs does, one day, meet this kid and his family. Maybe go out to lunch with him or something. Jacobs seems like a nice guy, too. _________________ RIP SuperSkinFan

Hey guys. Yes, still alive and checkin' the board daily... Anywayss! I wanted to thank all you guys for voting on that scholarship contest I did way back. I didn't end up winning (5th or 6th in Northern Virginia, I don't remember). But it ended recently and thought I'd update you.
P.S. The Redskins un-drafted rookie WR, Lance Lewis from East Carolina re-tweeted me today on Twitter. And!!!: Thanks for keeping me updated on the news _________________

Three people killed, three injured in off-campus shooting Saturday near Auburn University in Alabama, authorities say.

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/The-most-difficult-position-to-scout.html
Most difficult position to scout.... Offensive line. I have to say, I agree with this article. I always find it hard determining which OL are going to be good when I'm just watching them without any announcer telling me who's the best.
| Quote: | The one common denominator that most teams look for in offensive linemen is intelligence. As a whole, offensive linemen are probably the smartest guys on a team. While they may be “nasty” on the field they still have to be level headed and be able to think on their feet. They have to be able to pick up line calls and switches in protection in an instant. If they fail to hear a call or bust an assignment the called play is dead.
The offensive lineman also has to have a high degree of football character. He needs to be a self-starter who is reliable. The lazy player just isn’t going to make it. He may survive for a little while because of his natural talent but sooner or later it will catch up to him and he will be cut because his teammates can’t trust him. |

I just want to say Happy Father's Day to all the fathers (and fathers-to-be) out there. I'm sure guys like Thai and Woz (I don't remember who else is a father on here) are out there with their kids, but you guys are great. Keep up being great fathers.
To my own father- I love you, dad. I don't tell you that enough. You're a great father. I want to thank you for always being there for me. My brother and I are two of the luckiest sons in the world. _________________ RIP SuperSkinFan
