The fight will happen............................
If it doesn't, i'd love to see Martinez against Mayweather at 154. He might too big for him, but that's a great fight. _________________

Because Floyd wont take a 50-50 split... |
Just making sure but do people really believe this is the sole reason the fight hasn't happened?
Mayweather could be asking for a 50-50 split and it still wouldn't happen. Arum doesn't want the fight to happen hence his flip flopping of excuses in the past, to lying about the extent of Pacquiao's injury or deciding that he wanted to fight in June instead of May after having previously said they were looking for a May 5th fight, coincidentally lining up with the week that Mayweather's sentence was pushed back. _________________

It won't. However, unless Pacquiao knocks him out early, there's no way he would be Floyd. Seriously, watching Floyd fight is amazing. Such a great technical fighter and amazing defensive ability.
Nobody wants it with Mayweather. Nobody. |
Agreed. I loved PBF. But I do think Martinez can beat him. |

GREAT numbers and now Floyd is involved in two of the top six PPVs of all time. _________________

This would probably be the fairest way. I could see it being no more than 55-45 but I think Floyd would not go for it.

There is a ton of factors between a Floyd-Pac fight because they have all been talked about in this thread. While Pac has looked more impressive over the guys he and Floyd both fought, the differing styles make that happen, in addition the circumstances surrounding Cotto, lets face it he was broken after the first Margarito fight and his fight agains Clottey showed that as I think he would definatively beat Clottey if that fight happened again. I honestly could see the fight going either way, Floyd sometimes starts slow and if he gets caught by an early shot like he did against Shane, he might go down, that said, Floyd can outbox Pac, its certainly a fight that can go either way, and thats why everyone wants to see it. Both have also fought guys out of their primes as well, so its not really fair to bash one fighter for it and not the other.
The first thing I want to adress is the people calling Floyd boring. While he may seem like a bit of a jerk, there is no doubt his fighting style is so appeasing to the trained boxing eye, and not just because of his speed, but his adjustments in a fight and the little things he does defensively that are amazing. I'm not a fan of his personality, but no denying he is fun to watch, and there is a reason his PPV numbers are huge.
The people claiming Cotto gave the blueprint to beat him are kind of mislead, Cotto himself is one of the best fighters of this era, and has the perfect style to give Floyd problems. For one he is physically just a bigger guy than Floyd and he is a guy that can do many things in the ring, he can be that bully who can push a guy around, but he is also a solid boxer. I was rooting for Cotto because of my nationality, and knew Floyd would win, but it was going to be his toughest fight to date. In addition Cotto had his mojo back so to speak after beating Margacheto in the rematch. His size advantage over Floyd allowed him to control where the fight took place, against the ropes, and he was able to land shots on Floyd we haven't really seen in a while.
If Floyd-Pac doesn't happen, Floyd-Cotto 2 would be another great fight. As I said early Cotto has a style to give him problems, and I think Sergio Martinez would too, both are bigger guys who can bully him into a corner and control where the fight takes place for the most part, and have power. Put Canelo in that group as well once he gets some more experience over top level guys.
As far as Bob Arum goes, he is a moron and the scum of the earth, the quicker everyone he represents moves on from him the better. Seriously the guy just comes off as bitter and ignorant every time they let him speak into a microphone. _________________

MAGNIFICENT PERFORMANCE! But I knew it was over after the way Bute reacted after getting hurt. My goodness, dude panicked big time and it was lights out after that. This is what happens when you have no chin and face your first elite fighter. How good is Ward . He absolutely pummeled Kessler and Froch the next two best fighters in this division. I still thought Dirrell CLEARLY beat Froch but he needs to get his career back on track. Ward needs to fight Dawson at 175 and permanently stay there and clear house there. Nothing left for him at 168......................... _________________

Yeah, Ward will go up a division, I doubt Froch will want to fight him again. I highly doubt Bute will want to use the rematch that was written into the contract either. After a beating like that I see no way he could beat Froch, even in Canada. I think a Froch v Kessler rematch in Nottingham is the best fight in the division. _________________

Agreed, but this time out I see Froch taking out Kessler. What can Bute do if he doesn't take the rematch? He basically has to if he wants to be relevant in this division. I would love to see Dirrell get back on track and rematch Froch. I definitely don't think Bute can change much since that chin isn't going to get any better. He showed lack of composure and when he gets hits............... _________________

Froch arguably won the first fight against Kessler, in England and on the back of that performance I see Froch winning. I doubt Froch would rematch Dirrell, he is only interested in the Super Fights now. Not sure about Bute, I just think he will be reluctant to take Froch on again after that beating. _________________
