Who is gonna have the better career with the Pats? While we haven't seen anything from Vereen, he was a much better prospect coming out than Ridley, who has shown flashes of brilliance. Hype vs Production. Vereen vs Ridley.

Who knows?

Ridley is already doing stuff with the Pats that he wasn't known for in College (catching out of the back-field for example) and so it's hard to know where Vereen fits in. Obviouly Shane was was considered to be more of the every-down back coming out. As it stands Ridley offers a nice compliment to the efficiency of BJGE and is probably good for 10 touches per game. I think it just depends whether Vereen can come in an unseat the Law-Firm. Barring injuries, i'd say it might already to be too late to see much of Shane at all this season.

I find it hard to believe that after running up to the podium to get Vereen (only about 8 seconds elapsed between picks) that he would just get cast away without getting a chance to prove himself.

It's really just asking what you think. Vereen was much more heralded coming out. But Ridley has been the one on the field so far, doing what I would say most of us thought Vereen would be doing. The hype was always there for Vereen though.

How is he more complete? Coming out of college, Vereen was viewed as a more complete back and I'm not sure we have enough evidence to say otherwise.

Lets see the knock on Ridley was he was just a short yardage back didnt have the speed to be an everydown back. He cant catch. From whats he has done since hes been on the field. He has all those tools plus more. Hes alot more elusive than anyone thought.

Vareen got practice player of the week this week, which I would take to mean he is close to seeing some action in the backfield. And if Woodhead can't go this week, seems almost certain he gets a run out.

I guess what I am trying to say is, ask me next week.

Vereen is only more of a speed back and that's it. Ridley has great size, he is a hard runner, he can break tackles, truck people, carry load, he can catch the ball, and a even block fairly well too. Because of Ridley's ability to do all this, he can be an every down back. Vereen on the other hand is much smaller, he can't truck people, break tackles as good, or carry a load, but he has speed and he can catch the ball. Vereen clearly doesn't have as much ability compared to Ridley, and Vereen can't become an every down back.
