Football’s Future Signature and Avatar FAQ
Welcome to the Signature and Avatar FAQ, We feel this will be helpful with the new members and signature makers that have joined recently.
1. What is a signature?
A signature is something that is attached at the end of each of your posts if you choose to activate it. Although your “sig” can be text, many people opt for some type of graphic that shows a favorite team, favorite player, or school.
2. What is an avatar?
An avatar is much like a signature but smaller. An avatar is displayed under your name on the left side of your posts. An avatar can be no larger than 80 pixels wide and 80 pixels tall.
3. What are the restrictions on signatures here?
Sigs are limited in size to 600 pixels in width and 100 pixels in height. Animations are not allowed.
4. What are the restrictions on avatars?
Just like signatures, animations are not allowed. The maximum height is 80 pixels in height and 80 pixels in width.
5. How do I get a signature?
There are several ways to get a signature. The most popular way is to request one either by posting your specs in a certain artist’s thread or by posting in the [url=http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=283250&start=0[/url].
6. How long will it take to get my sig made?
This all depends on who you are asking and how busy they may be. Many of the newer artists seem to produce sigs at a much faster rate. You also must look at how many other sigs have been requested before you, as artists tend to make their sigs in the order in which they were requested.
7. Now that I have made a sig, how do I host it?
You can go to any free hosting site, people use www.imageshack.us or www.photobucket.com the most.
8. How long does it take to make a sig?
Every person is different but 30 minutes is about the average, some take more time, some take less.
9. What program is most commonly used to make these sigs?
Although many different programs can be used, the most elaborate sigs are usually made with Adobe Photoshop. Paint and GIMP are used as well. Any image modification software will work.
10. How do I improve my skills?
Practice, practice, practice…To make sure your skills don’t plateau, make sure to try many different styles of sigs. To improve, try and read a lot of different tutorials which are very easily found by doing a simple Google search.
11. Ok, I have the URL for my signature, now what?
Once you have the URL, you must paste it into your signature, which is in your profile. To make sure the picture is displayed, place the [IMG] tags around your image like so:
Code:
[img]www.PutYourURLhere.com[/img]
12. How do I download brushes?
Go to a site such as www.deviantart.com and browse for brushes (usually search “abstract brushes” or “grunge brushes”). An easy way to do this is to make a folder on your desktop named “Brushes”. Once you have that folder, download the brushes and extract them to your Brushes folder. Once in PS (Photoshop), click on the brush icon. Then go up top to where you can change brushes and click the little blue button with an arrow. Scroll down to “load brushes” and then find your file. Following this procedure, all your new brushes will be on the very bottom of your brushes list.
13. How do I get new fonts?
The following is for Windows users only. Go to a font site (such as www.dafont.com ) and then download a font. When it is downloaded, extract it to the C:/WINDOWS/FONTS (if C is your main drive). It is possible the number of fonts allowed will be limited.
For Macintosh you just download the font and double click. It will open your font manager. Select add font. That's it, no restart. Just open Photoshop and the Font will be available.
--------------------------------------------------------
Some things to stray away from
Please don't make a new thread for every single sig you request, it really makes it hard to view the forum and some of the more important topics in there.
One thing that tends to discourage artists from making you a sig is when you post a request multiple times to a bunch of different people. If you have no preference of who makes the sig post your request in the Signature Reqest for no specific artist thread, someone will get back to you. If it's been some time (at least a week) and noone responds to your initial request assume that it was missed and re-post it. _________________
