I'm not in love with him at corner, and think he might be better off as a safety. And I like Burnett a bit more at SS. |
In this fit, I would like him a good bit better at CB. Agree though, 3rd CB on most boards and there are sure as hell enough teams that need one. _________________

I guess it's hard to get jazzed about him with his short arms despite how tall he is. Although he's got great short area burst, but the 3 cone isn't too great. _________________

I feel there is as big of a drop from Gilmore to Kirkpatrick as there is from Kirkpatrick to the next guy on your list. Kids a solid prospect but the upside might be a click below many in this class. Well coached and ready though. The type that very much so needs the right home or he might get picked on more than some think. That said, Green Bay is a nice system fit should he fall for some reason. _________________

22. Cleveland Browns (from the Atlanta Falcons)
23. Detroit Lions
24. Pittsburgh Steelers
25. Denver Broncos
26. Houston Texans
27. New England Patriots (from the New Orleans Saints)
28. Green Bay Packers
I'm not a fan of moving up in the first if it means losing our second round pick, but that Cleveland pick looks like a mighty nice place to be.
Working with Holmgren should be easy. Leapfrogging (4) 3-4 teams can't hurt along with jumping passed a division rival. Actually wouldnt hurt jumping up to that spot in any round.
Sorry - didnt really know where to put this but this seems to be the hot last minute chat _________________

Our 1st and 3rd gets us there and some change. It is a nice spot. There's a decent chance that an elite tier guy falls to that point. _________________

| I've came to the conclusion that the Packers now have to sign Poe simply because I could then make a poorly shooped pic of him holding a lantern saying "You just caught a Big Poe. This May lead to something good.'' |

Know this is off topic, but didn't want to start a thread. You guys think the Steven Jackson rumors are legit? I think we might have the greatest offense of all time if we pull that deal off! _________________

I don't think they're real, and I don't know how I feel about them, either. A lot of mileage on that guy, and he's played through a lot of nagging injuries. He may be only 28, but I feel like he'd be a "quick patch" type rather than a "run the course" player. Could work out, could blow up in our faces.
I will say he's a great fit for our team though.
edit: it may be true though, since we really need to spend our cap space this season to take full advantage of the "yearly cap carryover" clause. _________________

| To me it looked like Jackson's last hurrah a year ago. He was definitely on his last legs even when he was healthy. No more than a 6th. |

Completely random but I just saw a bit on NFL.com where Mayock hosted a round table mock. Michael Irvin got to pick 28 and I'm not sure how the board fell (wasn't THAT interested) but the pick was Coples.
Now no way I expect him to be on the board, but as a talking point, if he was, would you be happy to take him? If so, why? If not, why? _________________

Nope. Talent is nice, but there are a lot of talented players that if you look at years past, never amount to jack squat (Matt Foley). Players that lack motivation I would steer clear of unless of course they dropped to a spot in the draft where you are mitigating a lot of that risk. And that place is not pick 28 IMO. _________________

Kind of disappoint with the board that we didn't get to 100 pg's on this.

There is still time before the draft, and it's kind of turned in to the pre draft hangout spot. I think we can do it.
Coples no me gusta. Not a great fit, motivation issues, sub par play as a DE after a great season as a DT..he's a guy who wouldn't be very high on my draft board even if I ran a 4-3 _________________

I never thought this would have got to almost 100 pages! |

What do you guys think of Brandon Taylor as a potential option for our defense? Former CB which Thompson may like, part of a great defense, though wasn't the close to being one of the best players on it. But played in a tough conference, veteran defender, can play in coverage.
Heres what jsonline had to say about him.

| Quote: | | Three-year starter. "Just remember this," one scout said. "He wears that No. 18 at LSU. Very special number. That's the war daddy number. Heart of a warrior. Incredibly smart. He plays aggressive and a little out of control at times, like Ryan Clark in Pittsburgh." Before last season, Tigers coach Les Miles asked Taylor to switch from No. 15 to No. 18, the jersey number worn with distinction by late LSU S Sean Taylor. Finished with 160 tackles (11½ for loss), four picks and 15 PBUs. "Tough kid," another scout said. "Probably be a starter. Runs pretty good. Would like to see him tackle better." Out of Franklinton, La. |
Seems like he could be a decent prospect this year. |
