That's the question of the day. I looked at his NFL coaching years before Manning and was not impressed. His QBs have been amongst the most sacked in the NFL before his years with the Colts. Here's an excerpt from an article exploring the title of the thread:

The Colts line gave up over 20 percent more regular pressure than the average club. And yet they allowed fewer sacks. Presumably, Mudd isn't some rogue genius at preventing pressure from becoming sacks. That quality would fall on probably the best quarterback in the NFL over the last decade, who's arrival in Indianapolis happened to coincide with Mudd's. |

I hate to be that guy but he kind of has a point...
Peyton Manning is the smartest and most decisive QB in the league. I haven't seen anything up to this point that makes me think Mudd is that great. Vick took a beating on every other snap in the preseason. |

While I don't question Mudd's skill, I do wonder how his philosophies will cross over from a QB like Manning to a QB like Vick. Manning gets rid of the ball very quick while Vick tends to wait while things open up down field.
That said, with the constant reshuffling of our line, I expect a few weeks of dumb mistakes anyway. It'll be hard to pinpoint what is a scheme issue and what is a personal issue. |

To be devil's advocate to that though Art,
 Our starting oline hasn't been seen yet
It was preseason, it usually doesn't translate to what actually happens. Vick was terrible last preseason, he wasn't in the regular season 
So if the oline sucks at least the first four weeks, let's revisit it until then it's dumb.

Don't remember Mudd only getting a couple months to build his line with the Colts.

But we also have a sucky Oline with 2 rookies. I think outweighs anything else.

Peyton Manning makes every one look good, but the Colts have always had a disciplined and solid core of guys who could get down both running the ball or protecting the QB. Manning mind you will do everything to avoid getting really hit, he will go down before his hit a lot, looking at the teams PowerElite posted that Mudd coached, i can only imagine a scrub QB or two running around holding onto the ball for 7 seconds with marginal athletic ability, mmmmmhhmm those 1994 Seahawks were fierce oh and the 83 Browns man, daaaammnn  .
Its footballl bro , we could take a million different "factors" and alter and manipulate any way you want but on at note i kinda chuckled when reading the title of this thread and atuomatically knowing who posted...
