Looks like Heavy Rain is a go Very Happy

With the first director pick, I select...

David Fincher

I want to make sure that Heavy Rain ends up as a true serial killer thriller, not just a video game turned movie. Fincher is the perfect guy for that.

Danny Boyle to tell The Greatest Story Never Told

Danny Boyle continues to use his post-Slumdog Millionaire clout to tackle intriguing subject fare, first with 127 Hours and now, from Variety, comes word that the Trainspotting director has attached his name to a script tentatively titled The Greatest Story Never Told: The Real Life Tale of Jasper Maskelyne, As Told By Jasper Maskleyne (hope you took a big breath before that one).

Jasper Maskelyne, as it turns out, was a third generation magician who enlisted with the British Army during World War II, and wound up orchestrating life-size imitations of military encampments to fool the Nazis, and even went so far as to actually hide the Suez Cannal from the enemy. Additionally, he led his own rag-tag group of specialists known as the "Magic Gang" (or A-Force, if you're feeling official), and created platoons out of cardboard and paint to fool Germany as to the true whereabouts of the Allied Forces, and the preparedness of the army. Or did he?

You see, British Intelligence reports confirm that while Jasper did in fact serve, there are more than a few people who doubt the validity of his tales. After all, this is a man who made his living through a series of smoke and mirrors. Given the current (lofty) title, it looks like they'll be retaining some of the "did he/didn't he?" aspect of his tales.

No actors have been attached to star in the film yet, but it appears Danny Boyle is putting Trance on hold and prepping this one for the fast track, so expect some names to come down the pipeline soon. Until then, make sure to comment on who you would like to see take on the role of Jasper ( pictured here).
