So it's back again, FF's preseason rankings. These are ranking who you think will be best in 2011. This does not necessarilly mean who has the best stats, but who will play the best. It also does not matter who you think will be better in the future. This is for 2011 only. We should start having the polls up either today or tomorrow.
MaddHatter, DaRealdeal, and I will do the threads for now. So we will have 3 going at a time. Ideally we can move to the next within a day or 2 so we can have it done before the regular season and so it doesn't fizzle out. In the past there have been times where we have to start begging for votes, we don't want to do that. If we have to do that we may just stop with that position and move on. Some of the lists will be Top 10 while others just Top 5 depending on depth of the position. There will be some positions that are combined if it isn't worth doing separate threads and we can meaningfully compare (e.g. Safeties as a whole instead of FS and SS, NT/DT, and MLB/ILB).
As we get later if we need more going we may ask for volunteers to run a position but let's wait on that for now.
In all the polls remember that if you think someone should be on the poll that isn't there to let us know. Among the 3 of us we have a lot of knowledge of the top players, but it is certainly possible that someone slips our mind.
Make sure you vote in the poll and not just post who you think. We have no way of knowing who voted in the poll and who didn't so we can only take the poll results. If you want your vote counted you have to vote.
Still we would like discussion as always. Stuff like why you voted for one player over or another and the like.
DO NOT POST RANKINGS IN THIS THREAD. We will post the official results in here. Posts in here should only be about comments or questions about the project as a whole. Discussions regarding specific rankings should be confined to the voting threads when it is appropriate (for instance we don't need discussion about Brady v. Manning when we are on the #9 QB in the league. They are almost certainly going to be gone by then and it will serve no purpose. However you can certainly debate it when both are on the list in a discussion for who is better).
Again, we really don't want to beg for votes. In that past it started to fizzle out. It only takes a few seconds at most to vote.
If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions you can post them below. _________________

Here is the breakdown of what the polls will be
Top 10 QB
Top 10 RB
Top 10 WR
Top 5 TE
Top 10 OT
Top 10 OG/C (combined)
Top 5 4-3 DE
Top 5 3-4 DE
Top 10 NT/DT
Top 5 3-4 OLB
Top 5 4-3 OLB
Top 10 MLB/ILB

Top 10 Safety (no FS or SS distinction)
EDIT: Also know that especially for the one that have a Top 5 limit, if there is enough participation in those polls we can extend it to top 10. _________________

Top 10 QB
Top 10 RB
Top 5 FB
Top 10 WR
Top 10 TE
Top 10 OL
From 55 to 55
Top 15 DE/3-4 OLB
Top 15 DT/NT/3-4 DE
Top 10 MLB/ILB/4-3 OLB
Top 10 CB
Top 10 S
From 60 to 60
I made sure to keep them all the same to not add to your already difficult task.
If I were able to increase offense to 60 I would add 5 to OL because of the large amount of linemen in the NFL.
About a month ago I saw that quite a few people knew about good Fulllbacks in a thread that was made about Vonta Leach.
Nowadays, there are more than enough TE's to rank 10 of them.
A lot of pass rushers and not too many differences between 3-4 and 4-3 pass rushers either.
3-4 DE's are very similar to DT's, so just combine them.
Same with 4-3 OLB's and ILB's.
People will have a hard time distinguishing between the 5th and 10th best offensive tackle, guard, or center. Best to just combine them all. _________________

Thanks for the suggestions.
The reason they are very separated is because we were frequently getting complaints that they are two different positions. Truth is I expect some of that even in the ones I have combined.
People actually seem to do ok with Tackles in my experience so doing 10 of them and 10 interior should work.
The TE's I limited to 5 simply because we tended to lose steam as we got lower. But I did mention in that poll that if there is enough participation we can increase in to 10. 4-3 DE and 3-4 OLB may also increase to 10 if there is enough participation.
FB we may do if there is time, but it really is a dying position as much as I love it. It's also like kicker in trying to determine who is better and most people just post their own teams FB if they are even reasonably good. _________________
