Manchester United in prime position to land £12m-rated Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha
| Quote: | Manchester United’s path to signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha looks to be clear after Tottenham insisted they would not pursue the youngster.
It is believed United are now in prime position to seal a deal, with rival clubs dropping out of the race because, privately, they believe Sir Alex Ferguson has already secured the player.
Zaha has become one of the most sought after players outside the Premier League, his elevation to the higher level inevitable.
The main issue is when, not if, it will happen with Crystal Palace hoping to keep the £12 million-rated 20-year-old until the summer at least.
Spurs on Tuesday night moved to distance themselves from Zaha, but it is understood numerous Premier League clubs who were following his progress have taken a step back recently because they are sure he is United-bound.
Palace hoped if a deal was agreed this month, United would agree to loan them Zaha for the rest of the season. |

12M is a steep price to pay for him IMO... He is very raw and still needs time to develop. _________________

Considering we paid 12m for an unproven ronaldo and 17m for an unproven (and [inappropriate/removed]) Nani, this could either way. _________________

I think we seal something now for a summer move (or a buy now/loan back for the rest of the season type deal). _________________

If you've seen him regularly over the last two years, moreso this year, you'll know he isn't raw at all anymore. He's devastating.
He was incredibly raw when he was 17, understandably, but he's really moved to another level over the past few years. _________________

12M is probably what you'd expect these days.
Oxlade-Chamberlain went for that and didn't have nearly the amount of experience under his belt as Zaha does, and Ox was even in a lower league.
Reckon it'd be a good signing for United and he could probably take Nani's place in the squad next season. _________________

I've seen Zaha and Bolasie (two wingers for Palace this year) a lot this year and them two are absolutely devastating together. _________________

Raw in terms of being ready for a club like Manchester United. He is a young prospect coming from a lower league. This remind me a lot of Victor Moses. He needed a season (maybe two) season in a team like Wigan so he can adapt to the PL. Clearly he has talent, but not ready for United IMO. _________________

Fletcher ruled out until NEXT season after Man United star undergoes surgery in battle with stomach condition
| Quote: | Manchester United have confirmed that Darren Fletcher will miss the rest of the season following surgery to resolve his chronic bowel condition.
The 28-year-old has fought a two-year battle with ulcerative colitis and while United have emphasised that the operation is part of a ‘planned procedure’, it will raise fresh concerns about his future.
The Scotland midfielder last appeared for United as a substitute in the 4-3 win against Newcastle on Boxing Day, but has managed just 10 appearances this season after returning in September following a 10-month lay-off. |

I wish Fletcher the best of luck on his surgery and recovery. This might not be about football anymore, I just hope he can live an normal life. _________________

Zaha could quite easily be our second best winger if he signs. _________________

Ashley Young has been solid this year at LW... You can't deny that. I don't see Zaha being better then Young. Plus Zaha won't come until the summer anyways, so we have to deal with what we have right now. _________________
