On espn and multiple sites it has been stated that if pennington does not tak a paycut he'll be cut! I didint believe it at first but its on several sites. I eventually think that pennington will take the paycut but if he doesn't which wuld mak no sense to mi, this wuld screw up are whole draft thought process and cutler might be are 1st pik, kind of scary right? Hopefully pennington sucks up his pride and taks a paycut lik a team player wuld, which he has covinced to reporters he is.

now guys hypathetically wat wuld u do if u wer a gm and u cut pennington. ( I know it probably wont happen but i'd lik to here wat u wuld draft, and do in fA.)

If we cut Pennington it would really scar our draft, however, it would actually give us a reason to take Cutler. Just one problem...NO OFFENSIVE LINE.

I know that we'd be in dire need of a QB if Pennington is given his walking papers, but I still want D'Brick unless we trade down. I don't want to see Cutler turn out like Tim Couch, his career ruined by bad o-line because believe me when I say that whatever problems Couch had, he would have been ten times better if his offensive line hadn't been completely atrocious.

I'm pretty sure it's true, I just saw a commercial for sportscenter about it that's coming on in 10 minutes.

Pennington will take a paycut. He wants what's best for the team.

Hopefully Pennington takes the cut, anything but Cutler is good for me. I think that Drew Olsen could definitely compete with Brooks Bollinger and a veteran next year for the job and we can look for a qb after that.

Well I think asking him to take away that much is ridiculous anyway. I understand that it's not Tannenbaum's fault that Bradway gave him so much money, but when Pennington is good, he's good. On the other hand, him not taking a paycut would be ridiculous. What if he was to walk out on the field in September and the first hit he takes he injures his shoulder again? It's the equivilent of the Jets throwing away $10 million a year to have a backup QB start for the team.

If he wants to work with the team, work with him. Any cut he takes is better than no cut at all.

its the jets fault for giving a relativley unproven Qb with no arm and injury problems in a brett farve type system and paying over 10mil a season. If i were pennington to be honest i wuldn't take a 8million dollar paycut that's a lot of money even if ur contract can get u 65mil+. I say let him split the money in half so to 4.5 mil this season cause his injury makes him half the QB. I think he'll go for that its less demeening then telling people im a superstar that took an 8 million dollar paycut which most people dont mak in the nfl, and now mak 1 million, it makes fans and others think this guy is done.

how about this....If Pennington is cut

trade abraham and some picks for a 5-10first round pick.
Draft Cutler with the 5-10 first pick.
Then add a veteran(kerry collins, jon kitna)to a one year deal
then Cutler can get a year under his belt and be ready to go next season because we're probably not giong to be playoff contenders next year, especially not in the AFC. So let's take a year to get Cutler to the standards of an NFL QB and he'll be fine.

If Pennington did not take the paycut, I could imagine the team would restructure his deal to make it more incentive-laden. If he thinks he deserves the money, let him prove it.

A 6th round pick at best. He's 30, never played a full season in his career, and is coming off of two major surgeries on his throwing arm.

He also has not had that winning swagger he had in 2002.
