I really like this pick a lot. I think he has a lot of potential and I'm really glad that TT finally got my guy! (pun intended)
Not that I felt DL was a need, but I'm a line guy on both sides of the ball and I get excited about all of those guys. |

Hoping someone gives Tolzien a shot. I don't like him as a prospect personally, but always good to see Badgers taken. _________________

| Jsitton71# wrote: | | Im with you danish about not drafting DL. But as i look back late in the season we played alot with 3 CBs and 2 DL. I think thats doms new system, this is a passing league, you get beat by the pass more than the run. Ask the falcons and steelers. So in this new scheme maybe theres not a big premium DL as before just my 2 bits. |
There are a couple of things here.
Everyone is assuming that we don't retain Cullen Jenkins. We may not, but that has not happened yet.
We also play a lot of sub packages that take out one and sometimes two DL. The days of Sherman keeping 9 DL are gone.
I actually really like the group we have. Expect better from Neal and Wilson. We also got very good work from Howard Green. Raji and Pickett are not going anywhere. We also still have Wynn and Harrell who will both at least push for a spot in camp.
There was a major run on DL early. We didn't have the chance to choose the best of the best, and we already have a very competitive group on our roster. Could we improve there? Sure. But there is room for improvement everywhere. The personnel group we have in place has a pretty good track record. They are not perfect, and you have every right to disagree. But realize that they are very good at it, and have quite a lot more information than you do at your disposal. They felt that other players were more valuable at the points they were selected. Maybe you guys were right. Maybe Cobb (for example) will suck and we should have taken a DL or OLB. At the same time, look at the reasons that the staff selected the player that they did. Believe me, they want to be right about the picks more than you. This is your hobby, while it is their livelihood. _________________ GO PACK GO!

Is it just me, or does it seem as though the entire third tier of defensive linemen fell a lot?
Guy falling to the seventh was surprising, but Parker, Thornton, Williams Neild, Gray and Bair still are on the board. |
