SURPRISE!

It may be late, it may be semi-forgotten, but not even nazis can never keep a good awards show down. Its the traditional Cowpokes awards, where you nominate your favorite posters, topics and happenings for awards. While in the past this event has either been hosted by the illustrious S.A. Cowboy or subject to the war of laughs between Matts4313 and TheSlamman, this year you get none other than me:

So kick back, relax, check out the awards this year in the next post, and if you are of a mind, contribute! There will be "best of show" awards after the official awards show is over! The awards are tentatively scheduled for Monday, Feb 28th, at 9:30 PM (subject to change if the majority of users cannot participate). All suggestions for additional awards will be considered, and I am looking for someone to make sigs for the awards. Contact me (please? or else everyone gets mspaint sigs.)

Nominations are in! Top 3 vote getters are up for the award in each category. (Note: order listed was alphabetized; don't want to give anyone any perceived advantage.) In event of a tie for THIRD AND ONLY THIRD, a fourth person will be listed. Some people elected to send votes via PM; these were accepted.

The Man in the Hat award:
Desperado82
MightyMouse07
Texas_Outlaw7

"88" Award
Ratherbehuntin'
Runaway_Jim
WizardHawk

Charles Haley Award 18 different posters got at least one nomination. 18. Here's the top three vote getters.
Acowboys62
Calvert28
HDsportsfan
WizardHawk

Stephen Jones Award:
Calvert28
Maddhatter
textaz03
TheSlamman

Weatherman award:
DirkGently
lupe44
ThaBoyzandthaU

Good Cop Award:
Desperado82
textaz03
TheStarStillShines

Bad Cop
Maddhatter
Northland
Plan9Misfits

Tonto award
Art_Vandalay
bednarik60
Gmen
Ianlewis16

Trollface.jpg
Matts4313
MightyMouse07
TheSlamman

The Star: Boyz2theBowl Lifetime achievement award:
htfryar
Texas_Outlaw7
textaz03
S.A.Cowboy

VOTES BY PM ONLY- VOTING PERIOD ENDS 11:59 PM FEB 24

THE AWARDS:

*As always, nominations are open and in the thread but voting is closed, and when opened, handled through PMs. I will make a post with the top five nominees for each award. Nominations end five days from now (Feb. 20th)

The Man in the Hat Award: The undisputed best poster in the last year. Like his namesake, prowls the forum with grace, aplomb, and dignity, while also allowing laughs and innovation. Your MVP.

"88" Award- This newer poster has electrified everyone, even without knowing some of the traditional in jokes (see: McQ, Squirrels, etc.) . Cutoff date is Jan. 2009.

Charles Haley Award: A poster who has contributed in a major way, yet may be overlooked for whatever reason when the lights come on and the awards are handed out. Never the flashiest, but always makes you think, laugh, or consider what he/she has to say.

Matts4313 wrote:
The Stephen Jones Award - This is the man with the plan. He always has his facts in order. Never argue with this man. You will lose. His football knowledge is deeper than the Pacific.
Shamelessly borrowed from a previous Cowpokes.

The Weatherman: No matter what's happening, this poster always knows what's about to come. He predicts the future with uncanny accuracy, and has all his ducks in a row. Goes to the best poster when it comes to mock drafts, offseasons, FA or just general knowledge about what teams will do what.

Good Cop Award: Top Cowboys Mod. Rules with poise and grace, keeps the kids in line, all without raising his or her voice. Not limited to Cowboys forum mods, but any Cowboys fan who has ascended beyond mere poster to the threshold of Moderator.

Bad Cop Award: The poster who's always there to bring the world back to reality, by any means necessary. Doesn't tolerate idle speculation, while explaining how things really work (The guy who can be counted on to guide people who think we can get Robert Quinn in the 2nd to reality.)

The "Tonto" award: Poster from a rival NFC East team who makes the biggest impact on the Cowboys community. Similar to how Tonto would help, until the rest of the natives showed up, then its all, "What do you mean we, white man?"

"Trollface.jpg" Award: The hands down funniest poster on the site. Will leave you in stitches, while simultaneously infuriating fans of opposing teams or viewpoints with satire and humor.

"The Star: B2TB Memorial Lifetime achievement award"- Pretty self explanatory. Poster who has had the biggest impact over his/her/your career here.

Nomination template to make life easier:

Me thinks your post is misplaced, Calvert. Wink

Also, we're able to post nominations as of now, correct?

Slamman needs his own special troll reward.

Still reading through the 9ers Time Out Room and I am just giggling along the way how easy all these guy's just fall into his trap. Even before we started discussing Franklin they just started assuming that we were gonna come in and scoop him up. Laughing

Seriously hats off to Slam for that one.

Definitely worth a possible lifetime achievement award... If enough people push for it he may get a special award. I did say you can come up with any award you want, and if it gets enough push it will be included. Cool
