I hate Bud Adams.

@TennesseeTitans: "The #Titans have hired Mike Munchak as the 16th head coach in franchise history."

I'm not completely disappointed. He's a guy that people within the organization including players have a lot of respect for. I still would've rather had Fewell but what can you do. Time to start looking ahead to the draft...

There will be a 3pm presser at BSP today by the way.

I give him three or four seasons max before he is fired.

In other news, gravity keeps us from floating away... Smile

Maybe the most anti-climatic hire we could have made.

It was so much of a for gone conclustion from day one.

I look forward to the new era of Titans football. Excited to see what he has to say as far as philosophy, intended direction and hires to OC and DC.

I'd think Dinger would stay because he most likely knew that Munchak had the job and he is under contract. Where would Dinger go this late in the game and risk not having benefits to cover his treatment?

DC is more of an unknown...

But anywho....Solid hire, not flashy, but solid. I like it because I hear it REALLY means something to Munchak.
He loves the city and he never attempted to leave because he apparently loved the city and organization that much.
We always talk about players who go looking for the big money rather than staying where they fit the best. I guess that was him. He was said to not value the limelight, but just do what he loves to do, in a place he enjoyed doing it.
I think it says a lot about a person who puts family, and happiness over money.

Welcome Big Mike!

This organization needed a house cleaning, so why are we hiring from within? I think everyone should have been fired and started from scratch. Oh well such is the life of a titans fan. On the bright side I hope Munchack is a VY fan Smile

i really dont mind the hire. I personally like it. Much rather give a young person who loves and want this job more than any other job in the nfl a shot over bringing in a seasoned head coach. If no one who knows the man and situation has nothing bad to say about the person then that speaks a lot about who he is. Hes a very smart business man as well. Didnt he bring snapple to part of the US or something like that ?

Ignoring the many and many reports saying he is gone.....

With him being an in house guy, you can pretty much assume he has the same opinon of him that the Front office and Fisher had...

But, I did want a clean house also, but don't think that was ever the direction they wanted to go. I think Munchak was going to be kept regardless.

I don't mind this hiring. Congrats to him.

What I will judge, however, is who we hire as coordinators. That will dictate how much success we'll have moreso than Munchak, IMO.

Well get ready for Dinger to be back or 1 of the offensive coaches to be promoted to OC and Dave McGinnis to be DC. Sounds about Titan like. Rolling Eyes

I just hope he can breath new life in this team. Let's see who he gets for OC and DC. Wondering how our draft directions would be.

I'd rather it be Munchak than Mularkey.

Solid choice as of right now. Not great, but I'm not infuriated. Lets see what the guy can do. And I'll also echo what many others have said. I'm very, VERY much interested as to who the coordinators are going to be next season.

Jason Jones was quoted as being Very happy with the hire.

I think he unifies the team and brings a different perspective and approach.

I don't know how much more of the house we could have cleaned: Vince, Fisher, Cecil, Washburn, Craig Johnson, Graves, Underwood and likely Dinger are all history.

Munchak sounds like a good hire, by all accounts. He's certainly no worse than the other no-names we were looking at: Fewell, Mularkey, etc. We simply were not going to spend on a Cowher, Gruden or Billick. Munch has the advantage of already being known to the players. He's been there - HOF status - and if the players respect him and his accomplishments, there's no reason to believe he won't get the best out of them.

Now, the unenviable task of selecting a new DC and possibly OC.

The more I've thought about the Munchak hire, the more it is growing on me.

For one thing, as an organization, you should have a better feel for who is going to be a great head coach if they have been in your organization rather than someone who has been with another franchise.

Second, I believe that we have a lot of talent on our roster. Bringing in an outside guy, we would likely lose a lot of good players in order to bring in 'their' guys. I don't want to see our roster gutted because I think we are better than our record this past season showed.

I also think that it was time to bring in a more offensive minded coach. Our biggest problem right now is clearly at the QB position so bringing in a defensive minded coach such as Fewell logically seems like the wrong move to fix our most glaring problem.
