Rank the teams by their three best pitchers. Here are, IMO, the top 12 not ordered. Feel free to incorporate others if you feel a better team's top 3 was left off.

Phillies: Halladay, Lee, Hamels

Rays: Shields, Price, Moore/Hellickson

Brewers: Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum

Red Sox: Beckett, Lester, Buchholz

Yankees: Pineda, Sabathia, Kuroda

Angels: Weaver, Haren, Wilson

Marlins: Johnson, Sanchez, Buehrle

Braves: Hanson, Jurrjens, Beachy/Minor

Nats: Strasburg, Gonzalez, Zimmermann/Jackson

Cardinals: Carpenter, Wainwright, Garcia

D'Backs: Kennedy, Cahill, Hudson

Giants: Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner

He's out for the first month. What's odd about the Marlins rotation is that this is what it's rumored to be...

1. Josh Johnson
2. Mark Buehrle
3. Ricky Nolasco
4. Carlos Zambrano
5. Anibal Sanchez

Do you see them getting better or the Phillies worse?

Halladay>Lincecum
Lee>Cain
Hamels>Bumgarner

I don't see Halladay, Lee, Lincecum, or Cain getting any better or worse than they have been so that won't change.

I can see Hamels regressing a bit and Bumgarner improving, but even if Bumgarner does end up better than Hamels (which I doubt) it won't be by enough to makeup the difference.

I think Lincecum wins the CY this year, so there's that. Cain < Lee is obvious.

And MadBum is going to be the Giants second best pitcher next year, IMO. And he had just as good, if not a better year than Hamels last year.

So for next year.

Lincecum > Halladay
Cain < Lee
MadBum > Hamels

Lincecum is on the decline the last 3 seasons.

His BB/9, FIP, xFIP have all went up each of the last 3 seasons, with his K/9 going down.

I feel the rose is off of Tim Lincecum, and is the Giants #3 pitcher going forward. Much less being better than Roy Halladay. Agree with the rest though.

Meh, he still has a couple left in him at least, and he's reported into camp in the best shape of his career.

Is it reasonable to consider Tim Lincecum a better pitcher than Roy Halladay? No, absolutely not. Halladay at this point is pitching as well, probably better, than Lincecum ever has and it's not like Lincecum now is the same pitcher he was in 2009.

He's certainly not done though. He's still one of the best pitchers in baseball and if he can fix what's been broken the past two seasons I wouldn't doubt him returning to that level.

Watch out for Milwaukee this season. Zack Greinke posted the lowest xFIP in the NL last year and the infield defense is probably going to be upwards of 25 runs better.

Also, I get that Adam Wainwright was really good pre TJS, but he hasn't pitched at all professionally since he got hurt. Are we sure that he's going to be able to anchor the Cards' rotation?
