I don't think Doc was taking shots at Ray. I think he was being honest. I don't think it's a bad thing. Ray ain't the player Rondo is but Ray still thinks he is, as any all-time great would. Doc did what any great coach would, he transitioned the team to a new style of play and Ray didn't like being phased out. So Ray went to a team that he feels will get him involved like he'd like to be. Will that be the case? I wouldn't bet on it. If you consider that Ray's ego, then whatever. I'd have the same ego. That's not a bad thing. |
Not letting him be the 6th man behind a young solid player is. But it is that same ego that let's him shoot w/ confidence even when he's missing. Pretty much every player has the 2nd one. _________________

Nobody has any reason to believe it isn't true but keep grasping at any reason to hate Ray. It doesn't bother me any. _________________ Yo, is that time machine done yet? |

Come on TB. Honestly I have only heard you make that claim I've never heard it elsewhere.

I thought Ray Allen said he went up to Coach Rivers and told him he is fine coming off the bench since he knew the move was inevitable anyways? _________________

I do not remember anything positive coming from Allen's camp until AFTER we came out of the All-Star break hot. _________________

Doc said it was Ray's decision during a pregame interview with Gorman. He said it more than once.
Ray came back from injury, started the game, Cs lost, next game Bradley was in the starting lineup and Doc is asked why the switch was made prior to the game and Doc said it was Ray's idea. Don't you remember this? So either Doc is a huge lying jerk or he's trying to take the blame off of Rondo's shoulders with comments like that. _________________ Yo, is that time machine done yet? |

TB, yes I remember it going down that way as well. However, make no mistake it wasn't something Allen 100% wanted to do, but he just knew it was going to happen sooner or later. I want to say they mentioned this before the last meeting against the Heat? _________________

Yeah, I can definitely agree with that but even then, that speaks to Ray's character and his desire to help his team. They made the comparison to Larry Bird missing a stretch of 8 games once and the team flowing better with his replacement... so it was Bird's idea to come off the bench for the next 25 games. Not that Ray and Bird are on the same planet but at the time, Ray was considered a high-character guy for this move. Now suddenly Doc made it all up? Come on now, guys. _________________ Yo, is that time machine done yet? |

I'm not bashing Ray for it. I'm sure Ray wasn't making issue of it. I dont think he thought of it but he could've been accepting or open to it despite not liking it. Though I think its easier to be backup for Wade than a 22 year old kid that isnt a star. _________________

Someone posted this video in the Celtics thread a while ago:

I commented with something, and just got some email about someone replying to it, and it's the top comment.
"Thumbs up if the officials screwed the Celtics." _________________
