Who would you cut despite there contract? Be realistic.
Doug Jolley
Jerald Sowell
Derrick Blaylock
Jay Fiedler
Kliff Kingsbury
Harry Williams Jr.
Justin McCareins
Ty Law
Those are the guys I would cut despite the dead money.
Guys I wouldn't cut BECAUSE of dead money...
Chad Pennington - Besides the money he is owed I still think he has something left in the tank now that Heimerdinger is out.
Jason Fabini - If we just keep him for one more season there won't be any dead money on our cap from him!
Pete Kendall
Dewayne Robertson - Just too much money...
Eric Barton - He still has something left in the tank.
David Barrett - I feel he deserves a chance as the #1 before we cut him. _________________

I agree with pretty much the whole list. Chris Baker played well, and I didn't really see the point of bringing Jolly in in the first place. I like Jerald Sowell a lot, but BJ Askew also played well with the chance he got this year. McCariens hasn't produced, and Ty Law I don't think we can afford.
I think all the guys you have under "not cut" can still play another year, and with Ty Law probably gone this will be Barrett's chance. Dewayne obviously can play still however just not as good as he should be with the money he makes. If Pennington is ready for training camp I'm sure he'll be just fine. |

I would only cut fabini because that way d'brick can come and start right away.
And if we draft gean-jiles same thing for kendall
but i agree with everything else _________________

I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to cut Fabini/Kendall unless Ferguson/Jean-Gilles won the starting job. The thing is though, that we'd only be able to see who won the job after June 1st anyway so cutting would be pointless because then it counts against us. Let's just wait a little longer on these guys so that in the long run it costs us less.
And as for Fabini if we tolerate him one more season it will cost us absolutely nothing on the cap. _________________

| we cut kingsbury and fielder no need to waste roster space and there is no reason for two weak armed QB's. Harry williams is not an nfl caLIBER reciever. Everyone else stays. |

I like Harry Williams and wouldn't cut him.
His scouting report from ESPN Insider
Harry Willams Jr. is a developmental prospect with great speed (4.41 in the 40-yard dash) and very good all-around athleticism. He remains extremely raw as a route runner and pass-catcher. He must learn to read defensive coverages and he also must improve the sharpness of his routes. Furthermore, Williams must learn to pluck the ball away from his frame and continue to improve his overall focus. However, Williams has the speed, quickness and body control to make big strides in all of his areas of weakness at the next level.
He's a project. He will contribute to special teams and may one day become a 3rd or 4th reciever. Being a 7th round draft pick and someone who was just activated from the practice squad he cost's next to nothing so cutting him for cap reasons is pointless. Whats the point in drafting a project WR to be our 3rd or 4th reciever in the draft when we have a cheap one on the bench.
I agree with the rest of the cuts and might add Reed and Legree they've both done nothing and if were moving to the 3-4 they would both be undersized and useless. |

I keep forgetting that Legree and Reed are on this team.
Reed might actually be a decent 3-4 DE as he's an undersized 4-3 DT. _________________

I also like the cuts except for Harry Williams Jr. UNless the jets get a #2 or #1 guy in the offseason, i think Williams stays. He went in the 7th because hes from tuskegee, its not a big school. Hes very fast, and hes tall, 2 things the jets recievers lack right now, even laverneous didnt loook very fast last season. Just get rid of McAirens and ill be happy.
Good cuts though i like it. |

Great list! I agree with not cutting Fabini right away because when the Jets draft Ferguson, move D'Brick to LT and then Fabini will move to RT and give Adrian Jones 1 more year to sit and get groomed, he didn't look that good in '05 anyway(Jones). _________________ Curtis Martin is the greatest underrated athlete in any sports history!!!!! |

Yeah we might as well keep Fabini and Kendall. If we draft some young talent in the draft, it never hurts to have a veteran to show them the ropes. Plus if we cut them later, it wouldn't be as big of a hit on the cap. _________________

I wouldnt be surprised if Curtis is is cut as well. I think Jolley stays, Baker is ok, but Mangini is going to run 2 TE sets and they need Jolley
Sowell is a FA. I agree that McCareins and Law will get cut |
