Very early, I know, but I know that things are heating up in college ball and I figured I'd go ahead and pull the trigger on this. I want to see what kind of interest this thread gets with the draft a little over 5 months away.
With that said, who do you guys think are the top 3 PGs in this class? Please rank them too. _________________

1. Trey Burke
2. Michael Carter Williams
3. Doesn't really matter aka I dont know (McCallum @ Detroit, Kabongo when he gets back, probably someone else I cant think of right now). _________________

I like Marcus Smart. He's definitely a combo guard with his size, but I think he can be effective running the point in the NBA. He's very young, so that makes him a more intriguing prospect in my mind. If I am taking the word prospect very literally, then I like him a lot more because of how young he is.
Michael Carter Williams is my number 1 PG for this class. Good passer and defender, to go with great size for the position. _________________

First time today watching MCW after hearing alot of Hype. My early impressions are that he is a very talented player who should have a good NBA career. Not sure if MCW really translates well to a PG on the NBA level however. Kinda reminds me of a Evan Turner type player. Or a poor mans Penny Hardaway. |

Shaun Livingston or Greivis maybe? Let's hope he doesn't wind up having a debilitating injury though. _________________

So we got MCW and Burke, after that anybody else that could translate to being a good NBA PG?
Canaan, Pressey, Kabongo, maybe McCollum (Lehigh)
Canaan and McCollum are intriguing players to me. |

McCollum could be this year's Lillard. Tough break (literally) on that injury he has, but he should have a good rookie season in the NBA. I'm just not sure about his ceiling. Well that and his passing. He doesn't do it too often at Lehigh, but in the NBA the assists totals will go up and the points will drop down. _________________

Livingston is actually who I thought of first. Both very skillful but rail thin players. But didn't want to make comparison simply cause of the "JINX" factor.
But since you brought it up, it's on you now |

I think I read about that comparison on a draft site, so I'll redirect the blame there. _________________

if MCW can get that J to fall with more consistency, he'll be really good. Watching him today, he looked young out there, but he made the big plays when it counted. Really interested to see how he develops. _________________

Notes:
The major note is that this is a relatively weak draft in terms of proven potential. Almost every pick is going to be of the "flier" variety IMO. The difference in quality between the guys picked mid-lottery and late first round is marginal at best and is almost all potential. This is the year that it could pay off to take a major flier in a high-risk, high-reward type player (Le'Bryan Nash, KCP, BJ Young, Nemanja Nedovic, Tony Mitchell).
If you don't know who Nemanja Nedovic is, I'd suggest you get on it. While he's more of a 2 guard in a PG body, he has the ability to play the 1. I'm also really high on Boris Dallo so I wanted a way to get him in my rankings somehow. Dallo isn't likely to come out this year, however.
I'm not as high on Alex Len as others are but I ranked him as my #3 center strictly based on how high he's going to get drafted. I'll say this, he's going to bust HARD.
Someone is going to get a steal late in the first round of the draft with Le'Bryan Nash. I've always felt his game was better catered to the pros than college. The upside is still there and he's shown plenty of flashes this year.
Really don't know where to place Rudy Gobert. He has the height of a C but the rail thin body of a lengthy PF. Placed him in the C category simply to get CJ Leslie on my top 5 at PF. _________________

MCW reminds me of Kendall Marshall a little bit. Not a ton of athleticism, needs to gain strength, but has excellent basketball IQ and is lanky/growth potential. _________________

He's similar to Marshall in quickness, but he's ten times the athlete. _________________

I said last year after the St Johns game that MCW was going to be the best true PG in the nation this year and alot of people laughed at me. He has yet to disappoint. He came up clutch yesterday.
He seems like a taller Rajon Rondo with a little better jump shot. If he can consistantly knock down his shots, he will be a great player at the next level. _________________
