Scuderi signing is unreal. Talk about a discount. He could have easily gotten more anywhere else.

Crosby with the HT and a helper on the GW PP goal by Niskanen with just under 20 seconds to go in the game. Cool

Just as soon as it got back defenseman Kris Letang from injury, the Penguins' blue line took a long-term hit. Head coach Dan Bylsma announced Monday that the team will be without defenseman Rob Scuderi indefinitely after he suffered a broken ankle Saturday in Toronto.

He will be missed. IMO the best "Defensive" Defenseman in hockey. I think his presence out there made Fleury feel more comfortable.

Get Well andCome Back Soon Scuds!

It's amazing how many injuries the Pens have suffered over the years to important players. This year is no exception with Letang, Neal, and now to Scuds. At least it's not a season ender thankfully and it happened in the first month of the season.

Brooks Orpik had to get stretchered tonight off the ice after literally being assaulted by one of the cheapest and dirtiest shots you will ever see. Boston is loaded with players like that but according to some ignorant people it's Orpik's fault for delivering a clean check and then not accepting a fight earlier because of that hit. Rolling Eyes

Mindless trolls.

Dan Byslma is the winningest coach in franchise history thanks to a thrilling come from behind 5-4 shootout victory in Vancouver.

The Penguins have 7 players who are going to the Olympics: Crosby, Kunitz, Orpik, Martin, Maatta, Jokinen, and Malkin.

The Pens are on a serious roll. They won 17 of their last 20 games. Doing some of those games without key players such as Geno,Letang, Martin, Orpik and Dupuis just to name a few. Great depth with the baby Pens.

The Penguins set a franchise record with their 13th straight home victory. Really impressive considering the injuries they have had.

Scary to hear that Kris Letang suffered a mini-stroke. Fortunately from reports it doesn't seem to be career-threatening or more importantly life-threatening. It can be treated with blood thinners and he is expected to be out of the lineup from 6-8 weeks.

Tests reveal that he has a tiny hole in the wall of his heart since birth. Usually these holes seal shut in most people but not for him. This possibly could have led to the stroke.

Pens made a couple of trades today.

Got Stempiak from Calgary and Goc from Florida.

Good move? Big impact???

Educate me!

Stempniak has speed and good defensive awareness. Massively underachieved... but he might get plugged in line one for now. Bennett will take over if he ever recovers Sad

If not, he'll play on line 3 with Sutter and Goc. We needed some solid NHL players with roles that they can excel in. Goc can win face-offs at a high level, loves to block shots and hit people. He's put up underrated numbers as a lower line player in the last few years. Your playoff lines, if healthy are

Kuntiz - Crosby - Bennett
Jokinen - Malkin - Neal
Stempniak - Sutter - Goc
Adams - Vitale - Glass

I hate Adams. I wish it were Harry Zolniercyzk, but it won't be because Blysma is an idiot.

I like the deals. Not the blockbuster type but they needed help at depth at forward and that was accomplished without giving up a lot. Bennett has been injury-prone since his days in college. If he can come back and provide anything it would be nice. I would have like to have seen Shero pick up a RW for the top line but at least he didn't overpay for a rental. The Penguins needed to improve their bottom six and they were able to do that. One thing about Stempniak is that he isn't afraid to fire the puck on net. Led the Flames in shots this year and last. I wouldn't mind to see what he can do with Sid for a couple of games.

The Penguins start the playoffs on Wednesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets who they went 5-0 during the regular season.

They finish the regular season with a record of 51-24-7 and 109 points to easily win the Metropolitan Division despite missing a league high of over 500 man games lost to injury.

Sidney Crosby cruised leading the league in points with 104. 17 more than the next closest guy. He also led the league in assists with 68. He led the team with 36 goals with Chris Kunitz right behind with 35.

Marc Andre-Fleury was tied for second in goalie wins with 39. With two straight miserable postseasons from him the Pens will go only as far as he takes them. The pressure is really on him. If he falters again really bad then I can't see him coming back next season.
