Offensively, no clue. Either Comrie will be a center (unlikely) while Staal is injured, or play on a line with Malkin (they seemed to work well together)
Defensively I believe it will be
Michalek - Martin
Letang - Orpik
Goligoski - Lovejoy _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Tangradi - Comrie - Malkin
Cooke - Letestu - Kennedy
Rupp - Adams - Godard
Martin - Letang
Orpik - Michalek
Engelland - Goligoski
With injuries to Staal and Asham, as well as Tangradi being in Wheeling for now, this could change. We still have Talbot too. When we're healthy, this could get interesting...
Kunitz - Crosby - Comrie
Tangradi - Staal - Malkin
Cooke - Letestu - Asham
Rupp - Adams - Talbot
But then where does Dupuis go? Do we send Tangradi down to make room? We have a lot of forwards and not enough room. Godard is going to stick around when we face Orr, Shelley, Boogard so Talbot/Kennedy lose playing time. The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm excited for tomorrow! |

Word has it that NHL rules require you to dress 3 goalies to start a season.
Per rules, Tangradi has to report to a minor league club, then come back to Pittsburgh in order to play.
So, Tangradi has to drive to Wheeling, report at noon, then drive back to Pittsburgh, just to play tonight.
....lol wut?
Regardless, there's only one thing you can say to describe this day...
IIIIIIIIIIIIT'S A HOCKEY NIGHT IN PITTSBURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!

| Tangradi doesn't have to physically report to Wheeling. He just can't be around the Pens until he's called back up. |

Oh so that's what it is now? It's not making any sense. Reports are saying he's definitely playing today. I'm still unsure as to why he has to even wait in the first place?
Kind of bummed. I wanted Despres to get a shot at Wheeling or WBS. He had such an incredible camp and had a small chance at making the roster for the try-out for the start of the regular season
I expected him to at least get a pro contract since we will save about 500k with Jordan Staal being out. _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

Here's an article in pittsburghlive about the situation...
| Quote: | Arron Asham's bum shoulder forced fellow Penguins winger Eric Tangradi to spend Wednesday night trying to calm down confused relatives in Philadelphia.
Asham, considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury, might not be available to play for the Penguins tonight against Philadelphia in the first NHL regular-season game at Consol Energy Center.
The unknown nature of his status forced the Penguins to assign Tangradi, their top forward prospect, to Wheeling of the ECHL.
Tangradi, who must travel to Wheeling, can be recalled today and play tonight for the Penguins, who set their 23-man roster by yesterday's 3 p.m. deadline without him. Goalie Patrick Killeen was recalled from Wheeling in another surprise move. |

Not sure why we need a third goalie Both Fleury and Johnson are okay to play tonight _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

Have to be 20 years old to play in the AHL or ECHL if you play in the CHL. So it was NHL or CHL for him.
He signed a pro contract probably about a year ago, so it'll kick in next year. |

Really? I never knew that. Explains why some college player stick around until their junior year then go to the NHL.
Despres just turned 19 in July as well. I suppose a year of Juniors can't hurt. Same with the cash.
Apparently Tangradi playing tonight (and only tonight) puts us 25k OVER the cap.
I don't get how this is possible. Staal is on the IR. We should say roughly 48k from him not playing. How don't we have enough cash?
Hopefully they figure it out and he plays tonight.
Random side note : ESPN has Tangradi listed as a C. _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

The rule only applies to certain Junior leagues I believe. Kids that go to college to play typically arent ready for the NHL anyway. They end up in the AHL regardless. Orpik, Whitney, Sneep, Strait etc... |
