Oakland Raiders
at
Arizona Carinals
Keys to the game:
-Raiders 3rd ranked rushing attack against Arizona's 29th ranked rushing D
-Cardinals 18th ranked passing attack against the Raiders 5th ranked passing D
Questions for the Raiders:
-Who is the starting QB?
-Can we expect Bush back in action?
-Will the defense continue where it left off in week 2?
Questions for the Cardinals:
-Can Derek Anderson limit turnovers?
-Are they going to be amped up for their home opener?
-Can the defense stop the run? _________________

Already? Hmm gotta go with the Silver & Black. The Cardinals run defense is horrific atm and McFadden is a freak atm. Additionally, their qb situation is shaky right now with neither Anderson or Hall being effective and with our pass rush, we can force mistakes. Hightower has had some good games too but I look for the defense to to flex its muscles vs a lesser back than the ones they previously semi held in check. Seymour should be back which can't hurt and Gallery could be too which also is nice. Especially if it means Loper to RG. _________________

Has Anderson been the confirmed starter? There were rumors flying that Max Hall could start this week.
Also Beanie Wells is still up in the air, I'm not sure if it's been confirmed he will play. I think he is supposed to practice Wednesday.
Big questions for the Cards. _________________ Bah-Weep-Granah-Weep-Nini-Bong

Scrabble has GOT to stick on Fitzgerald like glue...if he does that, our defense will be in a position to shut down the Cards offense. _________________

McFadden should have a HUGE game im expecting like 125 from him.
Oakland needs to come out putting tons of pressure on Anderson. |

Didn't the Cards' have one of the best run D's last season? All they lost was Dansby. _________________

Dockett and Campbell are not playing all that well so there run d is really struggling
in 2 games they have gave up 306 yards on 69 attempts. They don't really give up the long runs but they will give up a lot of yards on the ground. |

They really werent that good against the run last year either. They were 17th in the NFL, giving up 1804 yards, on 402 carries, for a 4.5 average. They also gave up 17 TDs on the ground. They werent terrible against the run, but they certainly werent one of the best, more like average. The loss of Dansby seems to be a blow that they havent been able to make up for thus far. Which has caused them to go from average to pretty bad. _________________

And they don't really have any OLBs that scare you with there pass rushing. So that will be a good thing for Veldheer,Mario and Walker.I think Bruce could easily put up some nice passing yards against them with McFadden running wild.
One thing tho we need to start getting Zach more involved its been ridiculous how were not targeting him more often.and With Bruce at QB and the offense line blocking for him better it will give Zach more chances. |

lets not forget about steve breaston or doucet. those two wr's are very capable of beating us if nate washington could beat us. |

Doucet had surgery didn't he?? I guess he is out...
Routt needs to play like he did against the Rams to controll Steve...
If we can put good pressure on Derek he will throw some picks IMO...
Their run D is 31 isn't it. 29 or 31 DMC and Bush? should have big game!
So:
Run run run
bring the pressure
use the Rams 2nd half playbook for the passing game no matter who the QB is. Our OL is not good enough for the vertical game yet. _________________ WIN LOSE OR TIE...RAIDER FAN 'TIL I DIE!!

This is a pretty good matchup for us.
Their main weapon can be limited by Nnamdi.
Their oline is average, our Dline is looking strong so far.
They have trouble stopping the run, we run great.
If we limit the stupid penalties and can keep Hightower in check in the short passing game, i think we win this game. _________________

We got to come out running, pound the rock and gain yards, let them know they are in for a battle at the LOS and we plan on running the ball down their throats all game until they show they can stop it, Bush I don't think will be a go for this game, but I don't mind Bennet or Cartwright getting a few carries in this one if we are running well. DMC should have a huge game on the ground and if we can start out running, control the game and slow it down from the onset we can curb their enthusiasm for the home opener.
This will set up the pass, play actions and take a chance deep if we catch them biting at the line, get Zach involved earlier to make them concentrate on him, get the WR's involved early too and let Dmac get some touches on screens or short passes and see what he can do in space.
On D its all about stopping Fitz and Breaston, they have had shaky QB play this season and we can keep their problems snowballing, get to him early and often with some blitzes, hit him, sack em, get in his head and let him know they are coming after him every pass play, this will throw off their timing and will get the Oline flustered, we can dominate this game at the LOS from the defensive side of the ball, blanket their WR get pressure and make them ditch the run by putting up a 10 point lead or so.
This is a good chance to win back to back games and get this back on the right track. _________________

I watched the Cards last week in Atlanta. They looked really really bad.
I don't expect them to look that incapable in their home opener. In fact, I expect them to come out firing.
Anderson is a streaky passer. If he gets rhythm he can make plays. He tends to force the ball at Fitz, so priority #1 is locking him down.
Anderson was pressured by the Falcon's all day and he started hearing footsteps. That's how the Raiders need to approach him.
Hightower can move. I was close enough last week to the field, I could actually feel the wind when he broke that long one down the sideline. He has to be contained for 4 quarters.
After last weeks gashing by Turner/Snelling I would expect them to really focus on stopping the Raiders early season MVP (DMAC). They understand that stopping him and forcing the QB to beat them is going to be their best bet. Whomever the QB is must bring it!
This is a real chance for DMAC to take over a game if he's going to. If the Raiders can get him in the end zone multiple times, they will win this game without question.
