1-2
At
2-1
Thursday, Sept. 2 – CAROLINA -- 7:30 P.m. (KDKA)
Where:
It is going to be a fast week for the Steelers. The first cuts will be tomorrow. The Panthers game, which will be the final chance for many players, is on Thursday.
Questions:
The big one is who will take advantage of opportunity and secure themselves a roster spot? Not even some veterans are safe. Eason is could be cut as well as Hartwig. There should be plenty of playing time for the younger guys. They need to step it up, or get ready for, “Paper or plastic?”
The O-line-Everybody can see what Pouncey has brought, so the issues rest on the rest of the O-line. Adams seems to be the best pick at RT despite penalties. Starks is secure despite the rise in the play of Hills. That just leaves the Guard positions. Kemo seems to still be in the offseason. But the biggest issue is the RG spot. I thought it was bad enough with Essex in, but I think it actually got worse during this preseason.
DBs- Lewis was on the rise until last game. He will need a serious turn around or his progress will go unnoticed with the return of B-Mac. But worst of all, Gay had a pick and looked half decent.
QB-I think we all know what is going to happen after the Broncos game.
RB-After last game, the only real question is: can Dwyer repeat his performance and maybe secure a spot? He seemed like he was on the outside looking in. But now…. _________________

Im sorry but I dont think Gay stepping up is a worst of all. I know pretty much everyone is down on him but if he steps up and shows he can play the nickle then so be it. He should not be a 1 or 2 but dont knock him as a nickle. Imo he is the best option we have right now. _________________

Gay is a fine nickle.
Our entire secondary hinders on Troy.
Gay even looked pretty good starting with Troy in there.
Even Ike Taylor looks like garbage without Troy back there, and everyone defends him.
Gay is not starter quality. I am fine with him at nickle tho. _________________

I agree. Troy is definitely a difference in the secondary. Also Imo the pass rush makes our weak secondary better as well. As it would any secondary Qb pressures and knock downs help as well. _________________

Don't be so sure yet. IMO David Johnson and McHugh both bring wayyyy more to the table in terms of lead blocking than Summers does. Summers also sucks on ST. He needs to be cut. _________________
