Draft the top RB or trade the pick and get their Defensive need and more picks. The 49ers will most likely be the number 1 - 3 next year in the draft. Then next year they can get the top QB in the draft, maybe Leinhart.

My friend is a big Niner's fan, and he feels that they should either take Mike Williams with the number 1 overall, or trade Barlow for picks and take Cedric Benson. This would give the Niner's the ground game they lost when Hearst went past his prime. Either choice, they probably will get a top pick next year and snag Leinhart unless Rattay or Dorsey produces. _________________

I think they should get Benson this year and grab more picks to fill their needs, then grab leinhart next year.

Why does everyone assume they'll be in the top 3 next year? The NFL is different than it was 15 years ago...teams can rise quickly. I don't think the 49ers are going to the Super Bowl next year, but those who assume they'll be in the top 3 next season without the draft or free agency periods having occurred obviously haven't watched football since 1994. _________________

i like this strategy you guys have stated. trade barlow for picks in next years draft and take benson at no. 1. then if we get a speed wr in the later rounds this team will be good except for qb (unless rattay does what brees did) then next year we take leinert. everyone says that leinert is a system qb , well with benson running the ball and those wrs , this will be a graet system , he'll fit right in.

barlow is awesome you have to keep him take a QB they need one and there what you have to start all franchises off with AND YOU DONT HAVE ONE then work on the line in free agency and later in the draft and get better to protect your franchise and that will make barlow alot better too cant run without a line go for D in free agency you have great linebacker to work with the rest will just fall into place after a year or two no matter what they do its going to take at least 2 or 3 years to get back up to the top and getting a QB first will give him that 2 years to get goo din the NFL (thats about how long it takes a QB unless your the steelers) and by that time you'll have a Defense so there you go

So Barlow played [inappropriate/removed] last year because of the line, but the QBs didn't? That makes no sense. Offensive line absolutely has to be priority no. 1. If we get nothing else out of free agency and the draft but significant upgrades at 2 offensive line positions, I'll be happy. _________________
