why does everyone's account name start with a #?
why is it called a "hashmark?" |
Hashtag's are a way to add a certain 'label' to a post.
If you post something like 'Go Adrian Peterson #vikings', that label indicates the subject of your tweet, which allows people who search for vikings-related posts to easily find yours.
It's evolved to where people will now use it as a pun as well. Like 'wow, it sure is cold in minnesota #freezingmyballsoff'.
They're just indexing tags basically. |
Speaking of freezing gonads, did you participate or watch the Elfstedentocht this year? _________________

Sh** got cancelled brah. The ice wasn't quite thick enough, and the temp is going up next week.
Honestly, I never saw one. I'm from '90, the only one that went through in my lifetime was when I was 6 years old.
It's pretty much impossible to actually ride it if it does happen, because the waiting list is insane, as only 16,000 people are allowed to ride, and all those old grandpa's have seniority.
Overall, skating was nice this year, it's been two years since we had this much ice. _________________

I was in Holland in '96. I left just a week or two before the race. I was pretty disappointed because my friends had been telling me about it and, being from Minnesota and raised on skates, I thought it would be fun to skate around on the canals and watch the race. It figures that the one time it occurs in recent history, I miss it by *thatmuch*.
Same thing happened with the Roger Waters Wall concert in Berlin. I had no idea it was going to happen and I was in Berlin and saw the stage going up, but my flight home was before the show.
Great timing, eh? _________________

The annual Arctic Blast fundraising event went on as scheduled with one problem – there was no snow in the Mille Lacs Lake area.
A call was made to the Blue Goose Inn Thursday, one of the check-in spots along the route to get a snow cover report and the news wasn’t good. The course was modified to have the snowmobiles run on the lake as opposed to around the lake on the one-time snow-packed trails around the ring Mille Lacs Lake.
Asked if any snowmobiles could run on the standard Arctic Blast course, the response was simple: “Not unless you’re riding a lawn mower."

Just wanted to pop in and let anyone that cares know that my son was born last week!'
Aiden William was born on 2/8/12 at 6:18 pm. It was a truly surreal experience and definitely was the best day of my life.
Already had a couple of the many sleepless nights that are coming, but walking around tired has been worth every minute. _________________

Big things are afoot in Valhalla! Congrats to both JDB and VV on their recent accomplishments! Although I think JDB's chief involvement in the accomplishment might have been nine months ago.
Congrats to both of you! _________________
