Schefter: Cardinals Will Attempt To Re-Sign Dansby

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals will attempt to re-sign LB Karlos Dansby once he hits the free agent market.

Schefter goes on to say that Dansby will not be tagged for the third consecutive season.

Do we have the guns to compete in a bidding war?

Can't. Deadline for the tag is well before the start of free agency, March 5.

Got to give it a shot. That's all we can ask for. Now he won't take a hometown discount, but he is very close with AW and a leader to this team, won't he at least give the Cards the last word? Meaning if he gets a better offer from somewhere else isn't he likely to at least give the Cards a chance to match it? It seems like the Cards are going to go after him pretty hard, which makes me think there's at least a chance.

we have a shot and i would love for him to be back... but i think he hits the market and we dont match what another team will pay

I checked. The tag deadline is February 25th.

That check did open my eyes to what could be a one great option, the transition tag.....

That would be an interesting option...I would say if we do that another team would offer him like 60 million dollars and we can't afford that...but atleast we would have the choice

I'm liking this idea of the transition tag more and more. Let the market for Dansby come together and see if it something we can handle, if not, at least we had the final say.
