Nah, I love Wilfork and Waston but if Ted Washington stayed with us we probably would have traded up. _________________

Ill stickw ith what we have.
Taylor ist he anti Patriot. He likes the personal glory and values money too much. Great player, just doesnt fit with this team. |

I think Rodney Harrison would change ST if we drafted him.
He has great potential...
I love Wilfork and Watson though...double TE packages with Graham and Watson...Givens and Branch split out wide and Dillon in the backfield...you have no idea what is coming...
The Pats opened up like that a lot until Watson got hurt _________________

lol what position would your sis play?
I don't think you understood the point of this thread.
Last year everybody had NE trading up with WSH to draft Sean Taylor.
This thread is for ppl comparing Taylor to Wilfork and Watson, and everybody agrees that Wilfork and Watson are a better combo than Taylor. _________________

I think it would be a smart move to trade up. They have the first round pick from the bottom first hlf every year, so they could trade their next year's draft pick every year and get awesome players without missing much.
Wilfork- 42 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 passes defensed, 2 fumbles recovered
Watson- 2 catches, 15 yards, 0 TD's
Taylor- 76 tackles, 1 sack, 4 interceptions, 85 interception yards, 9 passes defensed, 2 forced fumbles
I'll take Taylor. _________________

You can't just look at the stats and say who you'd take.
Lookat the needs of the team. New England has Wilson and Harrison at safety. No need for a safety. At corner, they had Law, Poole, Samuel. No need for a move of Wilson for a safety.
However, at nose tackle, NE had Keith Traylor, and that was it. Wilfork's presence on the nose was much more of a need, AND, his impact on the team was every bit as big as Taylor's was for Washington.
Then when you add in Watson, who only played in two games, but managed to be on the field quite a bit despite signing really late, tells you what type of impact he was going to have had he been healthy. The team was going to use him a lot, and if he didnt get hurt, he would have had 30 catches and 5 TD's with ease.
Ill stick with the two players we got, not ot mention that the two of them combined make less than Taylor. |

Wilfork is just scratching the surface of his talent.
How can you compare a safety running free for 4 quarters to
a nose tackle who's primary job is eat the double team and
hold the point of attack so the linebackers can make plays.
Watson will be good when he gets on the field. Look at his size and he runs a goddam 4.5 at 250 pounds? Ridiculous.
The Skins can keep Taylor. He will be one of the
best ever, but the Pats manage to scrape by.... |

If you are now saying that you didn't ever need a safety, then why the hell were you talking about trading up so far to draft him last year? Hmm... _________________

Now you guys are telling me that there was no need to get Taylor because you had Wilson and Harrison. So why does this thread even exist? If you knew last year that you didn't need him, then why were you talking about trading up so far in the draft to get him. _________________

Because people ran with info the wrong way.
Belichick made a comment to someone that if he had the #1 pick in the draft, he'd pick Sean Taylor. With the Pats holding 2 #1's and people expecting them to move around in the draft, people tried to put 2 and 2 together, and read too much into that comment. With Wilson's flexibility to move back to corner, people started thinking it was a move that would be a good one
There was no need for a safety last year, or this year however. It was all fan speculation and dreams. |
