| Quote: | Cleveland Browns running back Jamal Lewis says he plans to retire at the end of the season.
Lewis told reporters after the Browns' 30-6 loss Sunday at Chicago that his 10th season will be his final one, adding, "I mean what I say." |
Been a pretty solid career for him, but he's gone downhill fairly fast. He was fun to watch when he was a gamer in Baltimore. _________________

Great player. Very Good career with the Ravens, but with the Browns......not so much. _________________

So that's gonna be another hole to fill on a team with more holes than swiss cheese... _________________

What an enigma. He has a phenomenal rookie season in 2000, doing the offense’s part on our way to winning the Super Bowl. Then he tore his knee and our 2001 season in the first day of camp. He rebounded in 2002 then went off the map in 2003, which was a trememndously entertaining year because we were still rebuilding yet had such an exciting team that, despite Kyle Boller, won the division. Then the jail time came. A merely okay year in 2004, and awful year in 2005, and another bad year in 2006. The latter stung the most, since I think we would have won the Super Bowl if it weren’t for him. I don’t know if I can really appreciate the Lewis era outside of 2000 and 2003 (maybe 02, he was good enough). He burnt out very quickly. _________________

Man. With his combination of size and speed, he had the potential to be one of the best ever. We saw what he was capable of when everything was clicking; that 2003 season was just incredible. But injuries and off-the-field issues really stalled his career and unfortunately he was never really able to come close to matching his 2003 showing after. His 2007 season when Thomas and Steinbach were parting the Red Sea for him was decent, but aside from that he was a colossal disappointment in both his final years in Baltimore and his career in Cleveland.
He still had a 2,000 yard season and will retire with a Super Bowl ring, but there was room for so much more in his career. |

I remember in 2003, I was thinking "Man, Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes are future Hall of Famers for sure". What a turn of events since then. _________________

The Browns look to finally make a turn in the right direction, to some degree. Good riddance, twinkle-toes. _________________

Dudes knees have to be hurting. Work horse for some time. Despite the lack of production in the later years, he still was a impressive force for many years in the modern game. _________________

they should've thought about that before they threw James Davis into a "controlled environment" with no shoulder pads on... _________________

| If James Davis is on your waiver wire and you are in a keeper league...it wouldn't hurt to stash him away. He is the front runner for the starting job next season. I suspect that they may try to bring someone else in...but as of right now Davis is definitely better than Harrison. |

This guy was a beast back in the day. It's a shame he ended up staying around with the Browns because that team is an absolute joke of a football franchise. I have to believe he will rethink this and possibly be back next year. Lewis is probably beyond frustrated with having to go in and work for that organization day in and day out. _________________

i bet you our second round draft pick is a front runner to start next season
and davis is not definitely better than harrison. _________________ 1. hope for nuclear meltdown
