I'm a little misinformed about this. Can someone explain to me a little more in detail about comp picks, and where in the 3rd round would we get our pick for jevon kearse? would it be at the beginning of the round, the end, or is it the Eagles 3rd round pick.

Compensation picks are always at the end of rounds. The highest comp pick you can recieve is a third. The formula determining the picks is a secret, but it include salary, play time, and production.

I could be wrong, but I think that every UFA you lose you get a comp pick. Someone please correct me if I"m wrong.

That is correct. I think we will get a 4th for Kearse and a 6th for Smith.

We'll definately get a third for Kearse and hopefully a 5th for Robaire.

Wow, regular players aren't worth anything in draft picks.

Forgot he was drafted in the 6th, but still most trades these days it seems like the pick the team is getting isn't worth the player (see:Terrel Owens).

Just a little correction, not every UFA lost translates into a draft pick. They all get considered and the top ones result in draft picks (like Kearse getting us a 3rd and Robaire getting us a 5-6th). The lesser impact players are then kinda combined and they could translate an extra 7th or 6th based on impact they had with their new teams (combined, not individually).
