Ok guys, dont jump all over me if you strongly disagree with this. someone called in on a baltimore radio sports show and proposed this idea. Apparently you guys might be interested in either trading or releasing Derrick Mason because of cap figures correct? I beleive the titans are in the worse cap shape in the league right? Ok this was the guys idea.
Ravens trade 22nd overall, 2nd round pick and 2006 3rd round pick
FOR
6th overall pick and Derrick Mason
Apparently he thinks this would allow you to free up cap space by losing mason, get some more 1st day picks for young talent, and trade out of the 6th overall pick so you didnt have to shell out as much money.
What do you guys think? again, dont kill me if this isnt reasonable, i just want the titans perspective on this. |

It sort of favors the Ravens, but not that much though. It would help us out some though.

yea, i guess it all depends on much cap space the titans want to free up. trading the 6th overall and mason wouldnt help you much this season but getting extra picks and cap space would definetly help you out in the long term. thanks for your opinion.

It doesnt make sense. If you break it down, we trade Mason for a second, which means were trading our #6 for their #22 and a 3rd? No way. Even if Mason's value is as low as a 3rd, we only get an extra mid-low 2nd for trading down 16 spots? No way. Trading down to the pre and early teens would warrant an extra 2nd, why would we take a low second and trade down that low. Makes no sense. Sorry

Maybe if you gave us your 2006 second round pick it would be even or you could give us Hartwell and we add a 3rd rounder.

i also thought about the possibility of sending hartwell over, the only problem with that is that we are gonna need to franchise him first, still an option though.

True, but if you franchise him we couldn't afford him. Gary Baxter and Will Demps are other possibilities.

It favors the Ravens big time. We can easily get the their first round of this year and next years and get their second for this year.
I dont like it. If we got a starter from it with their 22 and second round pick then maybe. |

I looked at a trade value chart and for the 6th you'd need to give us 2 mid-late 1st rounders or a firsts 2 seconds and a 3rd.

Well I look at it this way, 2nd round pick for Mason. 2004 Baltimore first rounder and 2006 rounder for the number 6 pick overall. I don't think moving up 16 spots for a 2006 3rd rounder is that great of a deal.

Bulluck can I have a link to that chart? Oh and how about this for a trade, since the Ravens are having a tough time getting Baxter to play safety and with Dyson most likely leaving we need a CB. Maybe we give our first for your first and Gary Baxter along with Mason for your 2nd?
