| Winfield signed with the Vikings last year so he's not even close to the market. |

Update
There have been some signings that are beginning to give us a picture of what the market price is for cornerbacks, and it doesn't look cheap.
Anthony Henry received a contract from the Cowboys with a $10 million signing bonus, plus two $1 million roster bonuses in 2005 and 2006.
Then most recently Ken Lucas signed with the Panthers and received a massive $13 million signing bonus!
It depends on who you talk to as to whether Baxter is better or worse than either of these guys. But I think the $13 million signing bonus for Lucas is way over the top, and expect that Baxter, Fred Smoot and Samari Rolle will all be looking for more. A signing bonus of $15 million or more is likely for at least two of those three guys.
I hope we don't get priced out, but if we do, then I want us to trade up for either Antrel Rolle or Adam Jones. Carlos Rogers isn't far behind, but the other two are more complete corners (i.e. better in run support). |

I would prefer to pay Smoot that money than Baxter. imagine a secondary with Smoot, McAllister, Reed, and maybe someone like Brodney Poole or Earnest Shazor. wow _________________ "The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.” |

Not that you've lost Baxter, maybe you should trade the Browns some extra picks to move up for Rolle, huh?
Thanks for Phil, by the way.
ps. Ravens? Why not the Baltimore Hermit Crabs? You whores will slide into the shell of any team you can steal, right? |

| 3 mil is not alot in prosports, especiially for a top 15 CB. More importanltly im ripping baxter because on more then 2 occasions he said he was close to a new contract and said he loved baltimore and felt he would be back. thats why im ripping him, hes deceptive, misleading, and greedy |

| In basketball and baseball 3 million isnt that much in football it,s alot of money because they are one injury away from voiding their contracts since football contracts are not guaranteed...huge difference he deserved what he got when you compare to what others we're getting and I'm still guessing he gave the Ravens a chance too match. |

| Baxter did not get a $15 million signing bonus. He signed with Cleveland and received a $10.5 million signing bonus. Read the above Baltimore Sun article for the details on how it appears this happened. |
