Track team at my school used to be really strong. But, it's really fizzled down over the last few years. Won 3 straight state titles from 2001-2003. Then, from 2004-2007 when I was in high school, we didn't get any better than 4th. I mean, I was the fastest at every event that didn't involve the hurdles my senior year. It was kind of sad.
400: 50.17 (split)
800: 1:58.3
1600: 4:31 |
Those are all very solid times, my prs are
1600- 4:45
800- 2:05
Half Marathon 1:19:34
I realize one of the biggest helps to getting better at running in any race is by simply running mileage over a long period of time. If you wanna take off 3 minutes the easy way in an 8k, running 600-700 miles in a summer is a solid easy way to do it. Its all about the endurance IMO not just speed _________________

I feel awesome, today I ran PRs in both of my events.
4x800m split- 2:09 (former = 2:15)
1600m 4:53 (former = 5:14)
By my senior year, that school record (4:17 for the 1600m) will be mine! _________________

Nice I am a freshman as well and I have my first meet on Monday. Today I had a scrimmage/time trial sort of thing and my coach didn't care about time, all he wanted me to do was stay with the leaders through the 800 because I traditionally negative split, so I ran a 2:25 through the 800 in the mile. I think I finished with a 5:1x but that doesn't matter, I ran faster than that before in trainers during practice. I am hoping for 4:5x in a full mile on monday, and 4:4x by seasons end, and if my coach gets me into NON for the freshman mile <4:35.
Good luck with you're goals.
EDIT: And were you're past PRs from winter or last year? _________________ clowney.

Try last week
This is my first year running track, and at the beginning I ran a 5:40 mile and my 800m was so bad I actually considered hanging up my mid-distance spikes and moving permanently to my distance ones. _________________

I got invited to run in a freshman mile today, the slowest time of anyone was 4:58 going in to race.
But I had a really bad race (more like a really bad lap) and ran a 5:07 ( - Although they never even told me my official time, that's my coaches hand timed time) but I still managed to out kick the kid who was favored to win (Had a 17:04 5k time, skipped out on Winter Track for base. His coach seeded him at 4:30).
My splits were
72 (went out slow)
72 (But I did keep the pace)
88 (or not)
75 (I suck) _________________ clowney.

In the scrimmage for our school, we had nobody running under 12 seconds because of really bad wind but at the first meet (I wasn't there because I sprained my quad but I'm probably going to run on Wednesday) we had a few guys under 11.8. We have a sophomore that just came to our school who ran 11.4 while starting upright because he didn't know how to use starting blocks.
I'm hoping to run around 11.5 or so by the end of the year. I finished last year at 11.9 into the wind on the last meet so I'm hoping to be able to definitely improve that and go about 23.5 in the 200 _________________ Win it for Jim |

I've only been training for a week and my meet was in the rain/wind. I have similar goals to you. _________________

I had my first track meet yesterday, and it was terrible conditions to run in. It was cold, windy, and rainy. Not very fun for your first meet. Hopefully my 2nd meet on Saturday will be better.
Right now I run sprints, i'm average. I'm not great but im not terrible. I'm thinking about really working out hard this summer so I can stick just to throwing the Javelin because I have "potential" (my track coach said this, not trying to be conceited or anything ) since my dad was a very good javelin thrower back in his H.S. days. _________________

Our last meet was today
I set a new PR with a 4:49 in the 1600m
Is it just my wierd body or am I the only one without abs? I mean I think it may be my diet but I was thinking about it and not a lot of people on our track team have abs, especially me. I actually have a gut (although I think its because my back is arched, but still) I mean I got my cardio, my ab exercise, and my weight room. What am I missing? Its so disgusting because I'm very skinny (130, little muscle mass) and I have a giant gut
Any ideas? And whats the fastest I can see them? If its any help, I see them clearly when I flex, but its wierd, cuz I can actually grab a handful of fat from my stomach _________________
